I have never posted to this board before, but my wife has read many of these posts to me. My name is Greg, and I am Tracey's husband. I think it would help Tracey right now if she didn't try to hide from the people here. She needs more support right now than I can give her, and that means that I need this message boards help. She is having a pretty rough go of it right now. I know that everyone here knows what that is like, so I won't elaborate. She's been awake almost 48 hours now, and I don't know if sleep will be an option tonight. I am tired, she is tired, and the headaches don't seem to be slowing down. Her shots are not working as they normally do. Sometimes it is effective and sometimes it is not. I know how highly she speaks of the people here, and I think she would like to know you are behind her right now. Thank you, Greg

Tracey is one of the first people to respond to my first post on this site. I don't know what to say, everything seems terribly inadequate. Suffering through these with no pharmaceutical assistance is a terrifying thought. Tracey, hang in, we are praying for you. I will beat my head on the floor for a little while so you don't have to.

Greg........thanks for being there with your support for Tracey. I know it means everything to her and it means a lot to the rest of us. Is she using anything besides meds? Ice packs, heat pads, excercise. Dramamine (sp?) may help her get some sleep. It helps by not letting a person get into REM sleep mode. That's the time the cluster pain comes on. We send our prayer and well wishes for her to get through the night and get some well deserved sleep. Thanks for the message.

Greg about time you posted lol. it's nice to see you fighting for her i know it means a lot to her how you support her. we think highly or tracy around here as well. you know you are family here too. i wish i could tell her something new to help. she knows about all i can tell her she does a lot of studying and ask a lot of questions. only thing i know to tell her is go to her dr. and get him to understand how bad it has got. he might be able to change her med's around and find something that will work for her. my dr. say's it takes time to find the right med's sometimes. tracey you are in my prayers my friend wishing pain free times to you ken b

Greg, this is stupid so if you ignore it I will understand. One thing I have done in the past is fill one of my inhalers with liquor, preferably vodka. I then take a shot up the nose, hurts like hell. But changes the pain, a little distraction from the headache. Much like banging your head. A little gets absorbed and provides a tiny bit of relief (second and third shots hurt much less). But I would advise strongly against this if alcohol is a trigger for Tracey.

Hi Greg - its me... peppermint. I'm sorry that Tracey is doing so badly. Dammit... she is such a good friend to me, I would do anything to help her. The suggestion for sleep, Dramamine, is good...the doseage I was told works (for another clusterhead friend) is 3 tablets of 25 mg each. She can also try Benadryl in a pinch but that may not do it. Melatonin tablets may or may not work, 3 of 3 mg tabs, or the tea. For immediacy, the ice packs, cold a/c air on her face at onset, vigorous excercise at onset, strong, black coffee(not now of course she needs to sleep)... Greg.. you have probably heard all these coping methods. I know her alternative method she's using, but if the imitrex is not cutting it, has she tried Maxalt or Zomig as abortives? Maybe the Imitrex is hitting her back with rebounds ( there are differing opinions on this) . If she takes the Zomig at bedtime, if she gets it, it may cut that nighttime hit. I know of 2 chronics, that use that method. Hey you can call me anytime if you want to talk or have some questions maybe I can help with... Tracey is stubborn and I know she'll kill me for saying so. Also, she hates it when she thinks she's whining. Please give her a hug for me... .... Maybe another clusterhead can give you better advice, this is mostly all I got, except that I'm here for you. Always here for you both - Patty (Peppermint) p.s. One more thing, I know it sounds crazy, but for now, whatever works.... Georgia posted here about aborting hits with rubbing vinegar all over and a hunk of bleu cheese under the tongue. Someone else posted that they inhale the vinegar vapors and that did it. You must think I'm nuts but, if it works, then fuck it it works.

Greg - So nice to see you posting here...so heart breaking to know why. Tracey needs to be reminded right now that she is not fighting alone. There are thousands of the strongest people I have ever known standing arm and arm right now, fighting with her, fighting for her. You are one of those people. Tell her that. Tell her that again. Go to the medicine cabinet, get some benedryl or dramamine and make her take it, whether she wants to or not. Then go in the kitchen, cut off a hunk of bleu cheese and go stick it under her tongue. (This might be a little dangerous, getting too close to her right now...do it anyway. If you don't have any, go get some.) Get out the apple cider vinegar. Strip her clothes off and rub that shit all over her neck, arms, chest, and back. Plug your nose and fuck the hell out of her. I know it doesn't sound real romantic....but do it anyway. We know that the bleu cheese and vinegar have worked for her in the past, as has the other method. It might not work right now, but then again...it might. It's hope...it's something....it's knowing you are doing everything you can to fight back. Lastly, tell her that everyone in this house is praying for her tonight. Tell her we love her.

Greg I can't offer anything better than what has been suggested, all of which Tracy probably knows about. Tell her the Brit girls are sending strongest possible best wishes from over the pond. I will then get a few heads together this weekend (there are hundreds of clusterheads meeting in the UK) and send a huge communal wave of vibes over to help Wendy the Brit

Posts like this break my heart...for the sufferer and the supporter I don't have much more to add....there are some good suggestions already posted. Just one thing......it seems that extended use of imitrex causes problems for some CHers (it does for Blake)....it's like the more he uses the more he gets hit and the harder the beast is on him. If you could get some Zomig it might just slow the beast down (works at this house). It lasts longer and lets Blake sleep. Good Luck to you both, Jacks

Greg and Tracey, Thinking about both of you right now and hoping she gets some sleep real soon. Toward the end of John's last cycle, he started taking the dramamine (sp?) which really helped - at least it let him get to sleep. Hang in there, both of you, we are all praying for you. D

Once upon a time in the land of Texass lived a beautiful Queen. Her kingdom was like a fairy tale. She had a kind loving King and caring children. They were gentle and generous to their livestock and treated their land like the blessing it was. It was a peacable kingdom. They had a dark secret. The queen had an evil dragon living in her head. When it slept the Queen was able to bring laughter and joy to everyone she touched. She was a benevelent monarch. As the beast slept she was always found working and doing for others. But as the evil creature stirred the smile hardened on the Queen's lovely face. Her twinkling eyes grew saddened with a touch of fear. She would quietly excuse herself trying not to let her gloom effect the joy of those around her. As she made her long lonely retreat down the cold halls toward the sound proof dungeon the dragon's wakening began with clawed yawns tearing at the inside of her head. Each painful thrust quickening and yet faultering her steps. The walls narrowed. Stumbling as each talon sunk deeper into her face, her hands out, fists clenching, supporting herself on each side almost is if to hold back, from the outside, the interior attack. By the time she decended the stairs and slammed the door of her cell the demon was in full fury. Knife breaths of fire seared her eyes. It's claws tore at the depths of her nerves with an unholy, unyeilding strength that seemed to threaten the very fabric of her soul....of her sanity. The quiet castle gave no hint to her torment and torture. Like a wheel within a wheel, the castle like her head held the unspeakable...the unimaginable... locked away. A solitary terror spending it's wrath. The battleworn queen drenched in sweat, knuckles bloodied, panting relief, stunned, collapsed in the corner as the Dragon retreated to it's invisible cave inside her head. Her life-drained eyes stared. Blinking, as focus thru the tears returned, she noticed a small chain link protuding from the wall. The initials DJ were etched on it. Her strength slowly returned as she clicked on the link. A secret door opened. She crawled thru and discovered a labarinth of countless cells just like hers. The sound of wailing was deafening. Cell after cell held people gouging at their eyes, banging their heads on the walls in a fashion all too familiar to her. The difference was that these cells had no doors. They were conected by open halls. The ones she first came to were more isolated but as she walked she found the halls widened, the cells more open. A strange sound then echoed thru the ever brightening halls. It was the sound of laughter. She rounded a corner and there we sat, smiling that knowing smile, that barely hints of regret. We embraced. We walked together into the sunlight of the spirit. Clusterheadache sufferers and supporters all. Dragonheads. King Greg was there. Queen Roxy knew the Dragon had not been slain but now she would never suffer alone....even if she wanted to. Walk in the sunshine den

That was very cool of you to post, Greg. Tracey, I'm sorry you've been hurting so badly again. You've got to go back to your original manufacturer and tell them you're malfunctioning and your model isn't supposed to come equipped with clusters and especially not the chronic brand. Maybe they can adjust some nuts and fix you. I know. It's not possible. But it makes me happy thinking someone can get rid of these for you.
