Ok let's see what did I do last cycle....we tried the new drug it began with an "F" we were trying to see if it could be used a  preventive but it failed I guess I'm someone rare because none of the preventives work for me.  I also had the nevere blocks to see if they would work now they didn't stop the cycle.  I did use the Botox the first series I got 8 shots temples, base of skull, and along the shoulders and neck, they didn't stop the cycle but I do think it helped with the tension in the muscles that can make the clusters worst.  We repeated the series again 2 months later taking it up to 12 shots.  I tried the predisone starting at 80mg tapered down fast over 4 days that also failed.  During the cycle I used imetrex most of the time although this cycle the H/A's came on strong and lasted longer then they use to....around 2-3 hrs that isn't like my other cycles where you could clock the cluster to about an hour.  I would say to try the botox....it did help with the tension in my face and neck and will do it again as soon as I see my neuro.  My Insurance paid for the shots in full.  I had no side affects from the shots.  If anyone has direct questions just ask I'm not the best letter writer..LOL...Sami

Hi Sami....nice to meet you, but I'm sorry you're back among the active.

I'm the one who was wanting info on Botox.  I think, since insurance is covering the shots, I'm going to go ahead and try it.  Watched a nasty special on TV about bad results not too long ago.  Hope my doctor is a little better at it....... Undecided

Thanks for posting how it did for you.

I seen a segment on either Dateline or 60 minutes about botox few weeks ago. A lady had went thru the series of shots for migraines.....but it kicked them into anuther level and delilitateing, she was bed riden and house bound a long time at first.....she's sueing the company. Some others said they had problems with druelling and stroke type symptoms. The way they talked there are alot more with the bad side effects then anyone hears about......guess this doc got carried away tho and injected too much.....he shoulda known better and uses it alot for cosmetic reasons. I'm not real knowedgelable on this subject but did make sure and watch the article about it. If I'm correct the big issue is the warnings for major side effects if you go over the recommended doseage not being public or sumthin to that nature. Don't totally quote me Pam

I tried the botox and it stoped my 4 monthly migraines that I get but did nothing for my clusters.  I was disapointed but not suprised.

Ok where was I when this special was on....I'm glad I didn't know about it.  My Neuro is the one that injects my botox and I was going to go and have them done again mostly for my shoulder for some reason when I get to be around that time my shoulders get rock hard.  The botox seems to ease that and I can relax again.  Now I'm worried....I guess it was best when I didn't know because I never had a problem and I had a series of 2......Sami
