Each one is the title of a popular song (although you'd probably want to classify them as "oldies": 1. Attention! (I'm addressing the person directly adjacent to myself whose organs of visual acuity are obscured by fusion-powered gas clouds of celestial origin). 2. The regular time cycle in which the planet completes one rotation, during which atmospheric perturbations have produced an abundance of ground-targeted hydrogen/oxygen molecules in a fluid state, occupies the present time period. 3. My cognizance of the topographic contours of the uppermost quadrant of he or she with whom I am engaged in conversation has been part of an ascending developmental cycle. 4. The birthplace of humorist Will Rogers! (in which location the movement of gaseous clouds of molecular oxygen-nitrogen compounds across vast tracts of normally unpopulated low herbage is often brisk). 5. There is a zero probability in the recurrence of the physical manifestation of the human to whom I address my current comments. Good luck..... Spin And here they are: (some have been guessed) 1. Hey There (You With the Stars in Your Eyes) 2. Here's that Rainy Day 3. I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face 4. Oklahoma 5. There Will Never Be Another You NOW THEN: I have lots more of these ready to roll. But given the frustration I've inadvertently (okay, vertently) caused some folks, I'm not sure if I should post them. What say the group?

Cathy, although I have spent many pleasant weeks in the British Isles over the years, I can't claim to have any special insight into the music knowledge of the inhabitants. You are correct on #4, incorrect on the others. My guess is you'll know the titles. No smokie dopie Pam. Maybe I should! To all: by and large these are old show tunes and "standards", i.e. not rock and roll and not from the last few decades. If this helps.

Cathi - sorry, kid, not in the ballpark. But thanks for playing our game! Don Pardo, tell Cathi what she's won..... Paul - Don will have to speak to you about the take-home version as well, alas. But I appreciated the pun on MFV. You're in the right general era at least. Spin (de platters)

Sherry - bingo! on #3, alas non-bingo on 2. You go, girl! Catlind - it may be dawning somewhere, but not in your answer. Good try! Margi - this stuff keeps my mind off the rest of my woes which, thankfully, this morning do not include a searing throb in the eye socket. But the day is young.... Thanks, all. sd

Linda H and Donna: a well-considered guess. To the best of my recollection that ditty was indeed entitled "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World". It is NOT, however, the bit of musical doggerel I had in mind. The work is its own reward. s
