Medical Term?

Most every other ailment I know has a "medical term" for it's official name, something latin usually. So far I have only seen the term "clusterheadaches" to define our ailment. (Except here  Wink)  Question, is there an "official" name for CH?
Hmmmmmmmmm.

TIA,
Mark

Tough question Mark. But just off the top of my head I've seen or heard these:

The most common "Medical" term is migrainous neuralgia.

also: In order of my favorites......... ;D
erythroprosopalgia of the head
sphenopalatineneuralgia
hemicrania periodica neuralgiforms
ciliary neuralgia
histaminic cephalalgia
petrosal neuralgia
vidian neuralgia
sluder's neuralgia
horton's headache

#1 favorite "One of those?"

In my house it's like this when I wake in the middle of the night........

Wife "What's wrong?"
Me "I got a headache."
Wife "One of those?"
Me "Yep"

Now aren't you glad you asked?  Roll Eyes

When I had to switch docs, I asked the potential new doc if he was familiar with cluster headaches..his response.."ah yes..those nasty lil f*ckers" I guess that was his professional name for em!! But with that answer, I knew he was the doc for me!

According to the IHS... The category of headaches that clusters belong to is Trigeminal-Autonomic Cephalgias, but they use Cluster Headaches as the "official" name of our sub-category.  Most all other names for this affliction are previously used, outdated terms.
