Sorry to vent about something non-CH-related...

About 18 months ago, my dad (72) was diagnosed with colon cancer.
He spent almost 8 months in the hospital last year and went from 175lbs to 115lbs (damn hospital food  )
While going through radiation therapy, someone 'dropped the ball' and basically melted a hole through him. Afterwards, he was told "You didn't HAVE to take radiation". One of the Drs even went so far as to say "That should have never happened" but wouldn't take responsibility. Result: a colostomy and a lot of unanswered questions.
Since getting out of the hospital last fall, he seemingly made a full recovery and gained back almost all of the weight he lost.
A couple of months ago, he had an additional surgery to deal with complications due to the unexpected results of the radiation therapy.
Today (on their 49th Anniversary), they got the news that they found another tumor, close to the location of the original tumors. He goes in again for more tests next week.
Last year was really rough on the whole family, especially my mom who went back and forth to the hospital twice a day for months. (She hadn't driven for 25 yrs - WOW, was that scary!   )
It is news like this that makes EVERYTHING else seem INSIGNIFICANT.
I don't ask for much often, but any prayers for both my dad and mom would be greatly appreciated.

I feel for ya bro cause I know, my Dad had a kidney out cause of cancer on a Tuesday and they discharged him on Friday. I had to carry a fraile 70 yr old crying in pain man into his house.

Grant, Thoughts and prayers going your way. I know how hard it is to deal with when a parent becomes ill. I am going through it now also and it sucks.

Sorry to read about what you and your family are going through. Lost my dad to cancer 20 years ago. The radiation is nasty stuff when administerd incorrectly. They burned the H out of my dad also. Went from 245 to 112 over a two year curagious battle.
Prayers and vibes are on the way.
