KEV'S WIFE IS TAKIN OVER

 Hi - I'm Kev's wife Cheryl & I am going to be takin over on this website for him - He is suffering real bad at this stage & can't stand to read or look at the computer right now - I have been at Kev's side since the beginning 1990. Has just gotten worse recently.  Not sure why. I try to be so strong for him - but I am disguisted even talking about pain, meds, dr's or whatever else that relates to my husbands ch's. He is having a hard time right now & it's puttin alot of srain on EVERYTHING in our lives. Makes the days long, but we are trying to hold our heads up. 
I have been trying to research for him the statistics of the neuro-stimulator surgery he wants to have done. Not too much info. Although I did find out today the the doc who wants to perform the surgery is fantastic. Another doctor (friend of my family) who is on "the board of directors" at the hospital says he would trust his own child's life in teh hands of this doctor. He comes from California. Anyone out there ever hear of him... Dr. Eskindar?? Let me know KAY??
He says I am unsympathetic when it comes to talking about it - but I told him that I stand beside him 100% no matter what decision he makes. I can't see him suffering like this if there is a chance for a cure. If the shoe was on my foot I would go for it!! Watching his suffering is killing me on the inside.  I am just trying to be tough on the outside for his sake.  Am I wrong???
This website is fabulous !! Glad we found you!! Feel real bad for every person who is suffering with this son of a bitch & pray for each of you every night.  I am hoping that my husband's surgery will be 100% successful & will update everyone during the procedure. Gives me hope to think that my family may be able to help others. 
Thanks for listening - I think to vent here myself for a bit may even help me a little!!

p.s. I have made an appointment for him to have a occipital nerve block shot on Tuesday - Hopefully this will be a temp relief until the surgery.

Welcome to the board. I am really sorry to hear about Kev's pain. There is no place else in the world where people not only understand the pain, and can try to help you understand from the sufferer's point of view, but also understand what it is like to support someone who is going through it.
There is a special section of this board devoted to supporters. It is called "Supporter's Corner". Check it out. You never have to apologize for venting in there, or on this board. That's why we exist.
Sorry again that you have to be here, but since you're here....welcome home.

Welcome to the board Cheryl and you sound like an EXCELLENT supporter. I wish Kev the best of luck, that doc sounds GREAT.

Cheryl, im sorry that Kev is having such a hard time now. Tell him that we are all rowing for him as fast as we can. I hope he gets relief soon. I am also curious about this new procedure. I am Pf now but the beast will come back to visit me again, I would take a hit for him if i could, but thats not how this beast works. My husband, Blake, is a clusterhead. I just wanted to address one thing in your post. You mentioned being tough on the outside and asked if you were wrong to take this approach. NO, you are not wrong....IMHO. It is very important to hang tough. You must, for his sake, kinda take over. There are things Kev usually does that he probably isn't able to do now so you must. Emotionally it is important that you stay strong too. The beast not only hurts physically but it does terrible things to the ego (does with Blake anyway) and leads to depression, lonely and hopeless feelings. You can be strong without being unsympathetic. Try to encourage him by letting him know you are there to help him any way you can, cheer him on in his fight, help with the medical treatments and decisions by learning all you can, let him know that this is a temporary situation and there ARE better days ahead. Let him know that together you all can see this through and WILL return to your former "pre-beast/cycle" life style.
It's not always easy, for sure, but you can do it....and it will make a HUGE difference in how Kev gets along with this. Seeing your husband suffer is almost unbearable as are the helpless feelings....but you are not helpless there are things you can do. Clusters hurt his head and they hurt your heart... You can't take his pain away but you can help him in the fight.....stay strong and "never let 'em see ya sweat"
