Fu-man update

Having recieved so much wonderful support from this family, I feel obligated to give an update. Headaches: Still getting 2-3 Kip8-10's per day, generally at night. Usually I get the bonus headache somewhere around mid afternoon, but that isn't on any particular schedule. I stopped taking the Depakote completely. My neuro appointment is next week (was supposed to be this week, but I couldn't make it) Stopping the Depakote seems to have helped my general happiness. I'm still very worn out. Job: I tried to quit my job this week. I asked about short time disability and other options. They aren't going to let me just quit. That's actually a good thing. In fact, my boss (who happens to be pretty well known around the globe) is insisting that I consult a doctor in Bangalore India who specializes in homeopathic (Jonny, that's not homo, OK?) remedies for just about any condition. He wants to fly me to Bangalore for a week to see this doctor. Wow. In the short term, I have insisted that I need time off to rest and deal with the rest of the crap going on in my life. Home: Wife is gone for the moment, which drastically reduces the stress level for me. She says she has left for good, but I doubt it. Right now she is in a hospital being treated for her newly diagnosed bipolar condition (something I've been telling her for years). I have my house and my kids, so I am happy but at the same time worried that I won't be able to do everything. Meds: Wow, I got 2 packages in the mail from family here, and one from my sister. Linda Howell and Kev, you are great people. I am starting to get little bits of the sleep I need so much. Thank You Thank You Thank You. Attitude: Not nearly as desperate today, since my biggest fear was figuring out how to cope with work on top of it all. With that temporarily out of the way, stress level should come down and desperation level is much lower. So, there ya go. Not a bad report really. -Fu

FU, I'm sorry to hear about the hits going on like they are and I pray that the beast will get lost very soon. LIKE YESTERDAY! As for the job thing, KICK ASS MAN! That is one hell of a boss. You are a very lucky guy to have him. Most would kick you out on your can and that I speak from expeariance. One thing I have learnt from this family is that there is not to much any one would not try to make this beast go away for ever. I have done the H2O thing, tried starving myself, taken trex in a manner that is not recomended, and I am sure that there are many others on this board that have tried even more then me. I am sure of it. I guess what I am trying to say is GOOOOOO MAN GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take the bosses offer and run with it. If you need anything drop Leesa and I a line and we will do what we can. As far as the family goes just keep looking forward and not back. The family thing will work itself out. Things will get better. Your kids will always be there for you and it soulds as if your wife is getting the help she needs so she can help you and now you can help her. Keep the faith. Dave

Fu Thank you so much for keeping us up to date. Your post made me well up, and truthfully I'm not prone to that. You sound so much more positive, try and hang on to that. r.e. the boss, what a rare being, hang on to him! r.e. the wife, what I know about bipolar I'm afraid comes from Abbie's mum and brother in ER. Sorry, that's pathetic I know! It sounds pretty horrendous to deal with if you are the person's family. r.e. the kids, little buggers make life worth living Love to you and hoping you reach the peak soon and start ebbing. Then life can really carry on properly W the B

Ahhh, Fu- You really have been through so much lately-and you've GOTTEN through it! When you're being sucked into a vortex, the only thing you can do is hang till you get spat out on the other side......you know you've got people pulling you to safety....... I think your boss is a keeper, Shawn- maybe with this guy, quitting is NOT the best option- glad it didn't work for you, after all. I'm glad the kids are okay, and that life is a bit more peaceful right now. India, for some help? Remains to be seen, but a nice trip, nonetheless....homeopathic? Worth a try- who knows, right? Don't worry, I'll correct Jonny again and again and again-as many times as it takes! if that doesn't work, I'll let you beat him up when you get back...okay? Thanks for the update, Shawn....you already know there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, right? PF! Cathi

Fu- I'm so glad to hear that things are getting a little better! I know the h/a's are still kickin your a** but it's just a matter of time before those start getting better too. It sounds like your boss is really supportive and that is awesome. That takes a big weight off your shoulders, I"m sure. I know how bad it can be to work for someone who has NO sympathy for some who "just has headaches". I posted in your other thread last week and I meant what I said...if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to call. I'm in the neighborhood, remember? Thanks for keeping us posted! V.

Glad to hear that you may be turning the corner even if you cannot see around it yet. Family is everything. Fibromyalgia (sp?), RA, clusters, macular degeneration , a dope bust, cancer and death. The site supports; the family is everything.

thanks for the report, Fubar - what the hell IS your name, anyways? i didn't post to your other post, but i've been worried about you. i'm glad to hear you're finding some relief finally. keep punching, man - it's really worth it. p.s. as to the homeopathy....that's literally treating "like" with "like". in other words, they will introduce histamines into your system to treat and build immunity to you your 'histamine' headaches. Think about THAT for a minute. I don't know how YOU do math, but in my little pea brain, that sounds like more attacks........We really have explored that and...it's kind of like treating clusters with feverfew or.....um... pissing on a forest fire, ok? If your boss wants to spend money on you, ask him to send you to a beach instead. Or, better yet, go sky diving or something. I believe the adrenaline rush would have more positive effect on you. Seriously.

Margi, my name is Fubar. My dad was a Marine and not real thrilled when he got his 13 year old cousin pregnant, hence the name. bwahahahaa Nah. The name is Shawn. I think most people here know what fubar means. That's what I feel like, so I picked that name. Signing off with "Fu" pretty much sums up the way I feel most of the time. I wasn't really considering going to India, but I was amazed he offered. Homeopathy sounds scary. The idea being to treat the illness with something that would normally induce the same symptoms in otherwise healthy people. I'm not keen on some doctor trying to give me a remedy that would induce cluster pain in anybody. -Fu

Thanks for the up date. You is one of the GOOD people and your kids are lucky to have you. Read somewhere that nitroglycerene tablets was the test for CH. If you took one and it brought on an attack, then you got the Beast in your body. I might be wrong, but if you take your boss up on the trip, let us know. You are one valuable employee---Talented.

Wow. Some people have real lives and problems. I hope you are as tough as you sound. So far it looks like you are. I cannot let go the homeopathic thing. Uh uh. Make someone else pay for it if you must go. Bangalore may be an interesting trip but spend your money for something useful. Homeopathy ain't it. I'm no fun. Mean old Charlie

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear you are off of the Depakote. I know it can be helpful, but the side effects are one of the things that was wearing you down. Keep looking up. You have been in our prayers. As to the homeopathic medicine, I don't know much, but what a boss! Wouldn't it be great if all employers cared about their people like that! We wouldn't be having the financial problems we are in in this country right now. God bless, jc

Just a thought, try and persuade kind boss that you could get treatment at a Spa in the Maldives and that snorkelling is known as a fantastic cure!

Charlie, No worries. It was an offer to send me there on his dime, not mine, and it was out of genuine care. I don't think homeopathy is an answer either, but it was an incredible offer. -Fu
