Hard Heart Beat....????
« on: May 9th, 2003, 11:54pm »

I have a question that I think is unrelated to my CH.

For as long as I can remember I have had an occasional hard heart beat.

It feels as though somone just kicked me in the chest, and sometimes it makes me expell air, kinda like coughing or when you get hit.  There is also a draining of energy at the same time.. .

It hits and then it is gone...

Sometimes it happens three or four times a day, and then not again for a month.

My mom and her dad both have had these off an on as well as history of headaches.

Not sure any of it is related, but they now have me on a heart event monitor that I am wearing for 2 weeks to try and catch it.

Ideas?

I don't know if this is the same as what you are talking about, but I have what is called PVC's  (premature ventricular contractions) To me it feels like my heart is a fish flopping in my chest.  Most the time only lasts for a few seconds then resumes regular beats. But at times I will get them many times a day for a couple of days.  They make me cough too.

Now there is another type PAC's (premature atrial contractions)  According to my doctor the PVC's are harmless but the PAC's need to be looked into.

They are sometimes called Palpitations.  They are very difficult to catch LOL I would go to the doc, and they would disappear.  I know I went at least 4 times before they caught a bit of one.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the info....

My mothers went away with magnisium, or just went away....

My grandfather has many more heart conditions and medications that I think that it is just covered up.

It sounds more like PAC or PVC...  more the PAC only due to fact that it beats extremely hard higher up, then not quite so bad lower down...  But I am guessing really.

I hope this event monitor catches one or two of these things....  My neuro is the only who put me on it...  I was blacking out last year Jan-Mar and 2 years before that as well....  I told him that I was getting dizzy and my heart was beating funny....

Well my heart has always beat funny like this...  but it increased when the dizzy spells hit this time...  So idunno something to take my mind off of my CH....  I would wave a dead chicken or a live one, over my head it I thought it would help the CH...

Anyone got a chicken.???  except Johnny!!!  Wink

Hi I had this happen to me several times a day for about a year... then I mentioned it to a friend that made me have it checked out pronto... I also have Mitro Valve Prolapse and  alot of cafene (sp?) can cause this reaction.  Remember soda chocolate and medications contain cafene also...(how do you spell cafene?it looks funny to me) anyway dont mess around especially if you are expelling air when it happens THAT never happened to me... ree

Panic attacks kinda do that to me......seems they tend to take different avenues and change....I think I'm doin fine and 'wham' I get that heart jump crap....and usually I am doin sumthin I like but am 'thinkin' bout somethin stressy or sumthin stressy is heavy on my mind or just plain brain clutter of things to do or get done......endles cycle. But you'd definetly wanna talk to your doc about what is goin on. I jus did that. Take care and have it checked out. Heart skip 'n jump Pam

Well I had a small one today...  pressed the button, hope I caught it.....  I want one of those kick you in the chest, knock the wind out of you beats so that I can say SEEEEEE it does happen!!!!!

Duct tape is bad!!!!  I thought having to shave patches of my chest for the leads was bad....

When this was happening 3 years ago, they did every test that they could think of....  I had so many leads stuck on my chest..  after all of the shaving that they did for those, I looked like a dog with mange!

I will keep you posted!
