How bout a beer?

Iwas wondering if anyone has any information on the effects beer has on CH.I ll have a drink a couple times a week and find that during remision theres no problems. Its demon fighting season now and i was hearing that beer may trigger or enhance a CH. I dont know if this is true or not but im scared to death of anything that will call the beast. The easy solution is just avoid it all together but thats another issue for another day thank for the feedback

Most clusterheads avoid alcohol in all forms during a cycle. It is probably the #1 trigger of attacks. Next time you feel a shadow have a beer and see what happens. Good luck.

| I'll save you the brain-pain! Wait until your cycle is gone...FOR SURE!!! Some episodics can occasionally have a beer (I've gotten away with it a couple times), but USUALLY you'll regret it. Substitute beer with a LOT of water. (American beer tastes like water anyways.) grant

Let's see, CH episode, add a couple of beers and watch me lose my mind! Beer (either American or that America light crap from up north) is probably my #2 trigger, it's right up there with sleep. Jim

I find this subject extremely interesting for many reasons. I am episodic, but fortunately alcohol has never been a trigger for me, in or out of bout. However, as others say, the majority of clusterheads I know cannot go near the stuff. Now this might get a bit contentious, and apologies if it has been covered here before, but I have also heard from a few sufferers who claim to have used beer successfully as an abortive. Sounded dubious to me, but recently when the beast started knocking at the door whilst I was on the way to a barbie, on a hot sunny afternoon, foolishly with no medication, it was a question of go back home or experiment. So experiment I did. I downed the first pint in a couple of minutes but soon reached Kip 3/4. I then found a quiet room, up to Kip 5, immediately downed another pint, and wham: gone! Pure chance perchance, who knows? I am still not convinced either way, but I have not had the opportunity to re-experiment because that was the final attack of my last bout (which in itself may be important). I shall experiment again, but needless to say, I can wait. ATB Hamster

I drink a beer, and I get hit hard. I don't drink a beer, and I get hit hard. If I'm going to suffer, I might as well suffer relaxed. Bud Dry only. None of that northern swill.

86 the beer during my cycles. For me, it is a trigger and makes the pain worse. I'm going to a crawfish (it ain't bait) boil this weekend. Suckin' heads without a beer is ..well...stupid. I was wondering if NA beer could be a trigger? Come to think of it NA beer is ...well...stupid. Any input? Steve

Not doctor recommended, but I will take a zomig or an imtrex pill before I drink. This usually works for those must- drink-while-in-cycle situations. Good luck, stevek

I used to try to outdrink the beast.. LOL He won everytime. Sent me to ER once for the pain. So for me, in cycle, BEER = BAD. I have cut down on alcohol intake quite a bit while out of cycle and cycles are shorter, less intense and less frequent. Your milage may vary...lol ;D Mack

I get hit whether I drink or not. So, in cycle I use the beer to manipulate the beast. I will drink a beer to bring on the beast before I go to bed. That way it pushes my attacks back and I can get some sleep. I aint lettin the beast tell me what to do damnit! BTW, I tried the N/A route during one cycle and yes, it still brought on the beast. Not quite as quickly but it did bring it on. Sherry

Booze of any kind and clusters is a 100% bad idea!! I usually get about 2 weeks warning before my cycle actually hits....the last time I had no warnings at all....just sittin' watching TV and having a brew....next thing I knew I was rolling on the floor for 4 months. Definitely avoid it until after your cycle is done! Isn't that why God invented pot??

Some people may question this, but I'm a chronic and just started having this shit last July. I would only get the h/a after not drinking for a day and continue to get them if I didn't drink. So, about 5 weeks ago I started drinking at least 5 beers a day and have only had 6 h/a since and they have been mild and last usually only 10 to 15 minutes.
