Variable O2 Costs / Benefits!

Hi Kids, After snorting O2 for about five years now, and being stuck with a horrendous drive to get refills, I decided to shop around. For E-cylinder refills (treats maybe 10 to 15 attacks), prices here in Memphis ranged from $18 all the way to $55. My standard, run-of-the-mill Blue Cross / Blue Shield policy paid either 0 (zip, nada), 50%, 80%, or100%, depending on which oxygen provider was talking to them on the phone at the time. I settled on the provider (LinCare) who quoted a reasonable price ($25) and also got my insurance company to cover it 100%. They threw in the little carrying carts and a couple of non-rebreather masks for free when I told them I was shopping around. Better still, they're located about 15 seconds away from my office and I never even knew it! Two messages from this: First, I'm a happy guy ;D. Second, it pays to poke around a bit. I betya I've spent $1500 (unreimbursed) on oxygen since I found out about it here on the CH board and got a scrip from my doc. Now I'm on easy street , and also my cycle seems to be at its tail end. Looking forward to no-cost, convenient O2 when the beast comes back in the fall, and wishing pain-free days to all my clusterbuddies too! The Old Decrepit One
