Newbie/oldy - sleep question

G'day - I used to be known as Aussie_dave, but it is a couple of years since I have posted and either someone else is using that name (or I just forgot the registration password)

I have been a bit of a fair weather friend, staying away while I have been in remission (or does that make me a foul weather friend)

Anyway, I have just started another episode and have a question. Has anyone noticed any link to changed sleep patterns and the triggering of an episode ?

I just asked as I spent Friday flying (didnt sleep at all), and Sunday night I have started a cluster episode again.

Anyway, (not) nice to be back

G'day mate'
Sorry about the head...pain sucks. Sleep? What's that! Look at this..........

"and a range of other circadian irregularities that have been reported in patients who have cluster headaches.10 Melatonin is a marker of the circadian system and a blunted nocturnal peak melatonin concentration and complete loss of circadian rhythm have been reported in patients who have cluster headache."

Mark, Thanks I needed to read that page again. Very
helpful to me and all Episodic suffers.

Aussie Dave, I'm flying to Africa for work from the U.S.
I had not had a cycle in 6yrs.
After a flight back to the U.S. I was hit again last October. I think the cycle was brought on by jet lag, I have no  evidence of that save that fighting the jet lag has kept me from losing sleep and putting me in the  physcial state I was in when I suffered the last cycle.

Great Thread

If you check your past cycles you are probably due for a cycle... Not getting sleep for a day could have probably triggered it.   My husband Daves neuro says that sleep deprovation is really bad for CH.  But CH causes sleep deprovation... good luck there are over the counter meds that can help not to get into Rem cycles and try to avoid attacks during sleep... CH changed my sleep patterns, not the other way around. Got so used to being nocturnal that I liked more.

Stick around.

My sleep is fine until the cycle starts..  I don't think that there is a CH-trigger activated by a change in sleep patterns.

As for me, I wonder if the month of May is a trigger and if so, can we skip May this year..? ;D
