Hiding in the weeds

Has anyone known of a cycle that has been terminated with medication? My current cycle began about one week ago with the normal build up and began to increase in frequency and intensity. Began medications this Saturday and have been pain free and sleeping uninterupted. Normally, I would be in the battle by now. I know he is there. I can feel the slight chill in my right sinuse every now and then. He's in the weeds....isn't he? Stevie Geebie

Congratulations on the PF time. I am not episodic, so I can't answer your question first hand...but I do know of people who have not gone into cycle because of medication they were taking. My almost husband, for example, has not gone into cycle because of the verapamil he takes. My big question for you is: What meds are you taking, how much, how often, etc? I sincerely hope is continues. Let us know. Peace and love, Georgia

Hi Stevegeebe. There are only 4 substances that I can think of off the top of my head that have been reported to terminate a cycle. 1. prednisone. I've heard reports of prednisone ending a cycle, but don't count on it, the chance of prednisone ending a cycle is EXTREMELY REMOTE. 2. IV DHE. For some people this has helped end a cycle, but requires hospitalization. 3. Magic mushrooms 4. LSD. Search the archives for the last 3 because there are numerous anecdotal reports on them. I'm not advocating the use of any of those substances, I'm just telling you what I've heard. Most other preventative medications work to dampen the attacks and make them less severe. I may be missing a few, but those are the only ones I can think of for now. --- Steve, one of many...

Stevegeebe: Quote:Current cocktail consists of Verapimil (80mg x2), Frova (2.5mg before I go to bed...bed?), Depakote (1000mg x2), Imatrex (20mg nasal spray) and will start Prednisone next week in advance of trip to Smokies. |
| Found the meds info, obviously. Did you start the prednisone yet? That's usually why people take it, to stop a cycle. As I mentioned earlier, verapamil has stopped Dennis from going into cycle at all for a long time. Not sure if Depakote has worked for anyone as far as stopping a cycle goes. Preventatives work differently in everyone...for some, they stop the ch...for others, they reduce the severity and frequency. And sometimes....its a combo that works. Keep us updated. Peace and love, Georgia

When the cycle appears to be ended, and I start to taper off the meds, I have about one week before I know its over or not. If the taper is premature, at least I get to kick back up to max without a new build up (tolerance). Genuinely hope yours is a wind down. I think mine is, but I am still not med clean.
