Back after 3 years with more frequency

I almost forgot about them for a while. Previous episodes were always 2 or 3 per day. Since this one started, I've been running 7 or 8 a day. Taking way too much imitrex (most of my stash expired 2000). Using the imitrex tip, but even at 1/2 or 1/3 this is adding up. Oh well, thank God it works for me. Moved since last episode so I've got to break in a new Doc and Insurance Co. Monday. That'll be fun. Has anyone ever had this change in frequence from one episode to the next? How many is a lot in one day? I thought these bastards were gone.

Welcome to the board bJordan. Most people report changes from one cluster cycle to another. Sometimes the Kip scale number changes, sometimes it's the number of attacks per day or maybe a different time of the year. A lot? I'd say 7 or more a day is a lot. When you see the doc on Monday ask about oxygen. It's cheap, safe, non-habit forming and could stop the pain of the low Kip attacks so you can save on the Imitrex.

Hey timmo, Welcome to the board. Sorry to hear the pains are starting again. Lots of great information at this site but you have to push all the buttons and read, read and read some more. You'll handle them just as you have in the past. Get with a good doctor. Check into verapamil, imitrex and oxygen. Let us know more about yourself, your pain and what medicines have worked or not worked for you.

Hi guys and welcome, BobG & cbolony I know you two have more experience with the O2, but I have had good results even at the higher Kips. I have killed a number of them at 8-9. It took a little longer (12-13 minutes) but it did do a number on them. At the time I had no other abortives, so I had no choice. Just an idea and maybe worth a try. Ross

Thanks for the replies. It's unbelievably comforting to know you're not alone with this. I tried O2 years ago with no success, but I only used the nose thing, never the full mask. I may ask Doc to try that again. I've been killing them with 1/3-1/2 imitrex, but even doing that I'm probably taking too much. Have had 7 more since midnight. Oddly enough I actually vomited for the first time ever with these things, but it was probably fear that the imitrex wouldn't work. I guess I should consider myself fortunate that I have an abortive that works for me. I don't know how I would cope without that comfort. And everyones support. Thanks again

bJordan, Hang in there. I went 5 years without an attack and 2 1/2 years since my last one.Till last month. Keep fighting and you will soon be painfree. Ive been PF for 4 days now. Life is good!! Try the 02 again, its awesome and has no side effects. And dont forget the non-rebreather mask!! PFDAN ...............andy

| Me too. So much for wishful thinking.........tsk tsk. Don't forget to read the O2 Compendium, masks not included, but available..... It's Saturday night, and I should be enjoying cheap sex, instead of this......... Oh well, RJ
