It was the later part of "99" when i arrived at my ex-wife's place and she told me that she had a surprise for me. She led me to the comp. ( not the bedroom )and showed me this site ( old board ). I remember that saturday afternoon as if it was yesterday ( i sat there for hours reading all i can ). All i could remember was i cried as i read ( esp. the guest notes ) the last time i cried,i was 17 years old ( my ex - girlfriend and her little bro.) were recovered ( they had been kidnapped and murdered ). Ever since finding this site ( dealing with the beast ) is a peace a cake. I remember all those years of dealing with the beast and thinking to myself that there has to be others like myself ( where are they and how do they deal with it ? ). What was your first reaction when you found this wonderful site that "Mr. D.J." provided for us ??

I immediately started a fight with Jonny. Continues to this day. I try and help him with his "inferiority complex". I also fart in his recliner when I visit him.

Here's my entry in the guestbooK: Reading the two accounts on the home page of this site brought tears to my eyes. Tears not caused by the pain in the left side of my head but by the sympathy I have for the writers. I'm 48 years old and have "suffered" for 30 years. One or two bouts a year, 6 to 10 weeks per session, 2 to 3 headaches a day. Right now I'm in week four of my current cluster. I live on Verapimil, Ercaf and lidocaine nasal spray. Forget the not to exceed dosage. I'll take it till the circulation in my fingers and toes is completely gone if it lessens the pain. It's very comforting to read the accounts of other suffers and know I'm not alone. Tonite as I pray to the Lord that he gives me a decent nights sleep, I'll include each and every one of you. Hang tough. bob pahlow <rpahlow@calpoly.edu> San Luis Obispo, CA USA Wednesday, January 06, 1999 at 13:23:17 (EST) I fart in Don's general direction!

Here was my guestbook entry: I am 39 and have been having episodic ch's since I was around 10, first one I had, I thought God was punishing me! I was diagnosed correctly for the first time in 1996 but have never been given anything that helps but cortisone and I am not sure that really helped as I was at the end of a cycle. My cycles seem to start either in the spring or the fall or in a really bad year both! They last 1 to 2 months. I have learned to live with this and it really sucks! I quit my head bashing when I ended up with bruises so now I pull hair and poke and knuckle my head trying to find a pressure point. I use ice on the face and eye and temple and neck and in the mouth which sometimes speeds the headache up to its more painful but eminent conclusion. This cycle though has progress far faster than most... I have gone from early shadows to 4 h/a's a day in a week! Usually don't get that many a day until much later in the cycle. I am soooo thrilled to have found this place filled with people who understand this pain. It is horrible that there are so many of us and so little help though. Take care! Sherry Ashland, VA USA Thursday, June 08, 2000 at 08:11:24 (EDT) (found out later that I was more like 12 when they started) Sherry

First time I visited the MB it was the old version. First contact was jonny, second was nancyc. Nancyc helped me get off my addiction to stadol. Jonny helped me get my head out of my ass and move on. Jonny's greatest donation to my well being was a picture of his red puffy eye during one of his attacks. I figured if he could survive that, I could survice mine. Left the MB for awhile due to severe financial distress and returned once I got on my feet again. Amazingly enough the MB had changed, but jonny hadn't. He was the first to blaze me for dropping out, and support and defend me for my reason for leaving and returning. This has become an avenue for support (giving and receiving), humor, in fighting and compassion that I would hate to loss. I returned to the MB when there was barely 900 members. I hate the fact that there is nearly 4000 of us now, only because it makes me realize how badly the beast has impacted so many lives. It's wonderful that we have a place to go. I'll go lay by my dish now.

For me it was like that scene from Poltergeist when all of the ghosts are walking down the stairs and the people are saying "Look how many there are"... I thought I was coming on the computer to find a cure... We felt very alone... I was thankful to find CH.com but bummed out to see that there were at that time hundreds of people suffering the same pain as Dave. Been here ever since... I have had 3 birthdays here so I got here about Dec of 2000 I think...or Jan 2001. I have looked for my first post and cant find it... Hey Don it wasnt long before I was fighting with jonny too LOL..............now I feel like that was my initiation to CH.com............... and I ain't goin anywhere love Ree PS THANKS DJ!!!!

It was in Feb of this year. I cried and I laughed, cried some more and laughed some more. A much better cycle than what I was in at the time. I haven't fought with jonny, and I don't eat enough beans to even hope to reach his chair. I suppose I'll be a newbie til I do fight with him ??? ??? Ditto to the Thanks DJ!!!

hey, my name is Gina, i am 23 i just found this site today. The front page was amazing. it was like reading my life only not mine..i am relieved to find others like me, no-one i know has ever suffered from them, they can't understand. It is genuinly (sp) comforting to now have someone to talk to about them that understands. Thank all of you for being here. (although i wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy..) i am going to keep reading into "our" lives now. thanks. Gina.

My reaction when I found this place about a year and a half ago was one of real relief! When diagnosed abot twenty five years ago I was put on narcotics that did no good, but was not able to find a Doc or anyone that knew any thing about this malady. Since finding this place Ihave learned more than either of my Docs from the first twenty years of the disease. Jonny, I haven't had the pleasure of a fight with you yet ;D. You have been to much of a help to me to fight with you. Besides that I am usually either laughing or crying to hard to fight. or To so many of the rest of you who have been here for a while and stay with it I want to say thanks from the bottome of my heart. I don't want to start mentioning names, cause this is already to long, but thanks. To DJ, thanks are not enough, but all that I have. jc (Geez, does that sound like I am sucking up or what?)
