I have had episodic clusters since 1978. I was first diagnosed correctly in Dec. 2000, before that I was told it was sinus infection, allergies, tension HA, etc. I just started a new cycle the begining of this month. Over 2 years since the last cycle was joyfull. Last cycle I was given topomax, which helped, but I'm prone to kidney stones and I got one from it. Ended up having to have a procedure performed to remove it. After scouring the internet for info on CH, I saw a study on melatonin and started taking 9mg a day about 1 1/2 weeks ago. It appears as though I may be one of the few people it helps, last 4 days have been pain free or nearly pain free, time will tell. Since this cycle started I was getting 2-3 HA a day, increasing in intensity and duration each day. Fzapped

Hope it works for you. It has always amazed me the widespread differences in preventative meds and how they help some and not others.

Welcome Fzapped, i've got the same problem with the kidney stones(past 25 now and 7 existing among both kidneys still to come out! Oh JOY!) and topomax messed me up with them too. As for the melatonin, sorry that it's seeming not too be the one to help. Good luck, and please keep us informed of any progress. Come back and see us ya hear? LOL!!! Mikey, ;D
