Don...

Ya know, I just don't know what to try anymore.  My neuro could not see me till the 14th, so my g/p prescribed Veralin... I rec'd info that Verapamil works much better than Veralin.  So I will get that tomorrow.  I was taking Frova... but ran out.  I am getting Amerge tomorrow with the Verapamil.  AND... of course I ran out of Vicodin today and can't refill till tomorrow.  PRAY FOR ME TONITE... 'cause I have NOTHING!!!!

You might try ginger.  The spice, not the starlet on Gilligan's Island.

PinkSharkmark recommended this and had a recipe for a ginger tea -- a teaspoon in a mug of hot water.  That was a little strong (hot!) so I use an eighth to a quarter teaspoon. Throw in a little sugar and it's really a pleasent drink.

Seems to knock the shadows out quick, and lasts about an hour, maybe two.  Of course it could be my imagination, the way my shadows come and go.

And once a shadow hits KIP 3, the ginger only takes the edge off - there is still a hard little nugget of pain it won't touch. Never tried during a full scale beast visit, but I suspect it wouldn't do much.

A friend sent me some Reed's Extra Ginger Brew. Interesting - a cold beverage with a hot after-taste. Now I'm trying to find more out here in the stacks.

YMMV

Thanks Don...

I will try this, but unfortunatley while you were finishing up writing your post, I was on my ride home from ER.  It surprisingly was a decent trip, being treated asap.  I'm going to try the tea today.  Thanks

No need to thank me...you're an experiment! Wink only the third person I know of to try it.

Let us know how it works. And don't be afraid to say it did nothing. No such thing as a failed experiment.

Tried the ginger drink for persistant shadows this afternoon - used about half a teaspoon (will try more next time!).  Sorry to say it did nothing for the shadows although I did enjoy the drink as I love ginger!  Anyway, thanks for the tip.  Willing to try just about anything to get off the meds, even if I'm only getting the placebo effect!!
