Ugh. The doc gave me the verapamil, stadol NS, phenergan, maxalt and ambien to help me sleep. Took the ambien tonight about 2 hours ago. I'm flyin higher than a fucking kite! I coulda swore sleeping pills made a person very sleepy NOT very spacy! I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to do for my head, and I'm too fucking stoned and loopey to be able to even type write!
Has anyone else gotten totally pyschadelic on ambien???

Hell Cat....don't know what to tell you. You were loopy the other night on Maxalt. I just hope one of these stinking drugs they have you on helps your head.

Ambien is avaliable in 5 and 10 mg. I have been taking the 10 mg for the last year. My Doctor has me limited to 10 a month (10mg). Supposedly it is only supposed to be taken for short period of time. I have experienced some of the "loopiness" you describe, even some hallucinations, but it went away pretty quick. Ambien is one of the best sleep aids as far as not making me sleepy the next day. However, over time it can produce rebound "insomnia" if taken to extreme, according to my Pharmacist. I have noticed it becoming less effective for me over the last couple of months so I doubt I will get it refilled for a while.
Stadol and Phenergan are both pretty heady stuff. Stadol really made me loopy, and I usually like loopy...but not like this.
For me Maxalt works as well as Zomig and better than Imitrex pills (which I did NOT like). Take it as soon as you feel the beast approaching.

i have been using ambien off and on for the last several months and it,s the only thing that has calmed me enough to be able to sleep. i have noticed the extreme loopiness but only when i take it and purposly don't go to sleep...( like to be able to space out my head pain enough to participate on this board )!
lately i have had to stop taking it because the combo of it and neurontin 1200mg at nite has turned me into zombie.
i have previously failed on the other drugs you mention but i hope they work for ya.
btw, have you tried neurontin yet? i'm not 100% sure it's working but it is definatly changing the timing and nature of my attacks so i am going to continue upping the dose looking for a break in cycle.

Mark your a sweetie. Actually, I did take the ambien, then stayed awake because my head started. I will assume for now that was the cause. Here's the kicker, I saw this topic this morning, and said WTF...when did I put that up and what's that about! Geeez...stay away from ambien, it makes you loopier than normal - and that for me is dangerous LOL
The maxalt did space me out, but I had taken 2 doses, first one, then another 20 min. later, and it did work, or at least help in conjunction with the O2. It states on the information sheets that it can make you dizzy so I wasn't surprised that I felt that way.
I am terrible for drug side effects, but that ambien fucked me up! I will be sure to take it and stay in bed!

Guess I qualify as the ambian queen cuz I been takein it straight for 'over' two years. It's onea them drugs you take and you go 'bunker down' cuz it is like a hypnotic. Once it starts ta work and you are doin stuff not layin down....a thought will enter your mind and you will subconsiously 'do it'.....it has scared me b-4 !! I have taken it and decided ta try out some new makeup ideas or hair trim idea......BAD BAD BAD.....I woke up one morning lookin like Meemie on Drew Carey and shocked the shit out of myself !!! I vaugely remember'd doin that ! I've taken it and keel'd over lookin thru a screen door almost fallin thru the screen ! Shocked me just before I hit the ground cuz I didn't know it was gonna happen. Kinda causes black outs if you take it and don't go lay down. I'm a chronic insomniac so my new doc even went ahead and prescribed it every nite. I think it works faster if you break the tabs in two. I take the 10 mg's. I have reread emails I sent to friends late and didn't remember typeing them and it would SHOCK me. Luckily it wasn't bad....ha-ha-ha....but it takes eftect wioth little warning so be careful of that !! It doesnt' make me spacey tho.... I have had to git up in the middle of the nite several times to help deliver pups and been able to shake off the drug and be just fine....or have some sort of minor emergency around here and wake up and not be druggy or drowsey which is why I like it....plus not the drug hangover in the morning at all. You need to plan for at least 8 hours sleep tho...I take it to late alot of nites and don't bounce up early as I wanted to but feel good when I do get up and refreshed. OK....I'm done now Pam

I don't know about the ambien or stadol but I do know if you want to sleep the Phenagran is the one to take, it's an antihistamine like Benadryl and if Benadryl makes you sleepy or goofy the the Phenagran will put you out, been there done that.
Might have a drug hangover afterward from what I remember. I'd definatelly put the other stuff away and do the Phenagran, it also helps if your getting Nausious! Pappy

Ambien can make you hang from the ceiling in the beginning, then you get used to it. I would get up and decide to cook in the middle of the night, or do laundry, not realize I had until the morning. It also lowers inhibitions, they like, disappear, until it wears off...
I gave half of one to my husband once when he was really stressed out, thinking he would sleep that night. He took the dogs out for a walk before bed and had trouble making it home. I had to help him upstairs, he was staggering. He never got under the covers, just crashed.

Once again I defy medical explanation LOL. The ambien was a trip, the stadol didn't do shit except give me a numb upper lip LOL
Went back to the doc today to get more maxalt, no luck
 I saw a different doc and they said NO WAY was I getting a triptan in light of my heart. *sigh*
Back to the drawing board.

Doctor Put me on 10mg did not do any thing she said
lets try 15mg still nothing, tryed it for 3 weeks still nothing!
I could have takin M&M's and got the same thing not didaly shit lol
with me takeing Maxalt & verapamil Doctor has me get an EKG Every 6 months
