Catching some rays.

Has anyone ever been in a tanning bed during a cycle? Did it affect the cycle in one way or the other? The end of my last cycle happened within a day or 2 of getting a sun-burn. Coincidence? Probably. Grasping at straws? Definately. -Curtis

Grasping at straws? Maybe. But I like to bask in the sun during my bouts. (It isn't easy since my bouts are in winter.) Otherwise I don't like the sunshine; I generally sunbathe in the shade.

I spent 10 minutes in a tanning bed thursday, friday, saturday, and monday. My cycle started Feb 26th. I averaged 3/night and had a total of about 6 or 7 during the day. I had a few pain free days when I started taking Amerge, but it seemed to lose effectiveness after a few days and I was back to 3/night after a week. Stopped taking Amerge on monday or tuesday, citing a total lack of effectiveness. Thursday 03/27 - Tired. 3 attacks per night for past few nights. Took drammamine and slept all night. Woke up in the morning feeling "hungover". No attacks all day/night. Friday 03/28 - Not as tired. Took drammamine before bed again. Slept through the night. Woke up feeling fine. No attacks all day/night. Pain free for 2 days. Boo-Yah! Saturday 03/29 - Feeling good. No Drammamine before bed. No attacks all day/night. Sunday 03/30 - Getting shadows for a few minutes when I smoke a lot. No medicine whatsoever. No attacks all day/night. Monday 03/31 - One or two smoking shadows only. No attacks. Today 04/01 - So far, so good. On the strength of the above I propose the following: Is it possible that the process the body goes through when blasted with a burst of ultraviolet rays can somehow affect the CH process (affectation of circadean rhythm, control of serotonin production/reuptake, blood flow)? A veritable kick in the ass of whatever mechanism is keeping me in cycle? My cycle usually lasts about 6 weeks, so I am nearing the end of it. Also, my proposal is based purely on speculation, with no hard data to support it. -Cold Lampin'

I think it may be a bit early to jump to conclusions. I propose: - continue experiment until slightly charred - flip - continue until slightly charred. grant
