First of all let there be no question to what side i support in this war. Second Hope you forgive me if a use the wrong word here. See some of you talk about the sadness of loosing a soldier in combat.Everybody know that this is a chanse everybody takes to join the army, and this is the backside of the medal to be a soldier. As a parents everybody know what can happen and what the chanses are. I think UN should get more time before starting the hell of war,and to know more what you are up against and what the chanses are. think we all can agree that there is no winners in a war,no matter what, and this includes both sides. As i see it this region is to unstabile as it is,and really does not think that this will help. What frighten me most is 2 things here 1 This could be a start of a new "Vietnam" Hope you dont think that taking out Saddam would help. There are a lot like him in that region.Libya +++++.I know that my US friend is not that blueeyed that they think this will be a short time thing. This can very easy keep on for years. 2 This could very well spread to other regions, and in the end a global dissaster. And who will win whit that?just asking Hope you all forgive me but i just had to tell what i think about this Your friend Svenn

The thing is, I suspect we’ll be there a long long time. Someone tell me how we’re going to go about spreading the word about democracy in countries that use the Koran as the only source for law. This isn’t going to be a cakewalk. Any form of separation of church and state, in our rosy scenario, will be a hell of a chore. Freedom has always been an endangered species and especially in these countries. I think Vietnam was different. We learned a lot since then, and even guys like me, know enough to not get in the way once it begins. Saving lives, not protests should be the objective once the campaign is under way. Sadly though, these weapons will not go away with the end of Saddam Hussein. Charlie

Svenn my friend, such smart words. Hopefully everyone here understands your thoughts here. I think every person that serves his country as a soldier is READY to make that ultimate sacrifice for country..........it is just "US" .....the parents, wifes, husbands, children, brothers, sisters, friends, & relatives that are left behind that have the REAL problem with accepting the ultimate price they may have to pay. Agree with you much Charlie. (GEEEEE can't believe I said that....lol).........but, seriously, think that "getting" at ole miserable Saddam is not going to solve the big scale problems....there are others like him. GEE, me discussing politics. betcha woulda never believed that one eh Charlie........does that make me some points???? LOL Love to everyone at this sad time, EDNA

Svenn, my friend, I was never for the war. But, 12 years ago, I was astonished when US army (read Bush senior) retreats from Iraq. The only thing to do with Iraq is to change the government. And no way to do this in un-harmful way..... we see the results in these 12 years, after the 1st Gulf war. ONU (sorry for US ...is UN for them) is a puppet.... no way to have effective reactions with it.... we saw in Bosnia, Kossovo, etc. The war (IMHO) will not be so long. The objective is not to catch Saddam, but to change the government. Surely it will be a "nice" thing see Saddam nailed to a wall (especially for those 300.000 deaths in Kurdistan and for the IRAN/IRAQI war, but is not mandatory to catch him. Until he remains in IRAQ, we will have only problems with him. But the thing that upset me over all is what the pacifists, bad pacifists I mean, not you, UELI, and million of people that think in a different way, are doing in these days. Violence, bad words, idiocies.... JUST FOR POLITICS!!! In Italy (that's involved only marginally in this war.... at the moment no men, no weapons, just the "passage" and assistance to the aircrafts) seems that we are in the middle of the Second World War. PEACE, Bush go home!, and other idiocies like these. Why the pacifists don't go in IRAQ and put themselves between US and Iraqi troops? This could be a useful thing! But they are only figs, and talk because they are not REALLY involved in this! I repeat, I am talking of the "bad" pacifists.... not the whole group! Ciao my friend
