These people are way out of line!

Granted, The Bill Of Rights grants them freedom of speech (right after it says the Govt. shall make no rules regarding religion).  It also grants them the right to "peaceably assemble".  That's cool.  Gather in the parks or in the meeting halls to voice their opinion.

When they disrupt the civil peace; when they block traffic or take any other actions which require the police to respond, they become aides to terrorism.  Especially at a time of raised terrorist threat, they pull law enforcement from their jobs of being watchful of terrorism in order to respond to their civil disobedience, leaving the country more vulnerable.

Also know that a lot of our soldiers in the gulf have access to TV.  They see this on the news.  Regardless of what they say about it not bothering them, it does.  It eats at their morale.  I know.

Now is not the time for disobedience.  These people need to keep themselves in check.

Just my thoughts for this morning.

As far as I'm concerned, these are the people who need to be stopped and dealt with as traitors.
They are putting the rest of us at great risk.

Just one question to those people:

You're against the war and the violence. OK.... and why do you demonstrate with violence, fists, bad words and delinquent acts?

Why? I'll tell you why.
The masses are asses. They use mob mentality which is at about a 5 year old level.
Now you know why I got out of teaching. Because the masses are asses and so are thier kids.

To be fair to the protestors I have to say that it appears to me that a majority of the rowdy ones are the young ones.  Teenagers who want to shout and disrupt.  I get the feeling they are there to be part of a demonstration (or in their heads a riot) and not so committed to the cause of the demonstration.  It is a shame.

The pro-troops demonstrations are peaceful, the peace demonstrations are violent.  Go figure.

There was a demonstration here in the burbs of KC with a large group of 14 and 15 year olds.  When the reporters started questioning the youths none of the ones interviewed had a clue as to what they were truly demonstrating against.  Two of them were stating their extreme displeasure against our (US) bombing of Saudi Arabia, one of them was shocked by the bombing of innocent Libians.

Their lack of knowledge for that which they demonstated really pissed me off!  Our future "clueless" leaders.

It was an excuse to get out of class. Good, bad, or indifferent that is a typical teen response. I  am impressed that some even knew it was the Mid-East.
I remember Jay Leno last July 4th and he asked: "How many stars on the U.S. flag?" And the response from 2 beauty school girls...no kidding, they dropped out of H.S. to attend Hair Dressing College like Frainkie from 'Grease', was: "Uhm-54? yeah.no. 52? no. 54".
I kid you not. Then these 2 future rocket scientists were asked "How many stripes on the flag and why?" They had no idea. The answer is 13 for the original 13 colonies.

Now, I will jump off Catlinds soapbox and get back to work....watching the NCAA's.  Grin

Portland, OR had about 2000 demonstrators- most looked to be adults.....funny thing, though, these are the same people who will be furious to find out there is even LESS $$ in the coffers to pay for, oh, let's see, EDUCATION?- just one example of our needs here- but, how much do you think these demonstrations cost? Police manpower costs $$$.  WHO PAYS? Add to the equation the broken windows, damaged cars....and the CLEANUP!! They haven't succeded in stopping the war, but they might have broken the back, fiscally, of the city of Portland. Rather than jail them, let's divvy up the bills they caused, and squeeze it out of them.
It is also interesting that they found it necessary to impede traffic, threatening cars of people just trying to get home from a day at work.
Can you tell me how it is helpful to create chaos(and violence) in order to effect peace?

Bob P is right about our troops having TV and can see the demonstrations taking place all over the world. It doesn't help their morale.

Even worse is that the Iraqi soldiers can also see American TV. They are watching CNN and the bombing of Bagdad at this moment. They are also able to watch the demonstrations in American cities. They see the American people yelling and fighting. This is a tremendous boost for the enemy morale.

Why do ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and all the other news groups show the very small persent of anti-war Americans and their crap. IT SELLS. FOLLOW THE MONEY!

Ralph White, a Marine who came home from the Korean War with a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, was standing outside his Beacon Street office yesterday afternoon, watching protesters approach, feeling his anger rising.

Above is all I could copy/paste from an article from yesterdays Boston Herald.

Turns out that he gave the protesters the thumbs down and when some 20 something kid walked up to him and gave him the finger ole Ralphie boy sucker punched him and sent him on his ass, the kid got up and they went at it till the cops came and broke it up. Cops asked Ralph if he wanted to press charges and he said "No, but I would like another piece of him"

Ole Ralphie is 71 years old. (Vet's Rock!!!)

Protests against the war, would have little effect if they didn’t make such good copy.  However, these protesters are not traitors. Every war has them.

I agree that one should be able to find Iraq on a map.

Didn’t hear that yet Jonny.  Scary. Yer right. Peace, no....

Nevertheless, it’s not only liberals who have doubts about Homeland Security.

While Tom Ridge is actually a very nice guy, this thing has opened us up to the likes of John Ashcroft. There is no one who has so little faith in what this country stands for, than Ashcroft. This is the guy that spent several thousand dollars of our money to put a drapery over what he considers "Lewd" sculpture at the Justice Department. Here is a man, George Bush appointed  to appease the Pat Roberston crowd in the once great GOP. John Ashcroft’s idea of justice is terrifying.

bob, OUTSTANDING post!!!!!!!!

all i can say is HEAR HEAR !!!!!!!

and charlie as always i appreciate your viewpoint but i gotta tell ya i personally see them as being very close to being traitors. perhaps not the ignorant teens but certainly the asswipe adults that accompany and put them up to it just to make a larger scene. i mean i just recently forgave jane "commie bitch" fonda. for what she did to me and mine during our unpopular war.

i'm thinkin we need to draw and quarter a couple liberal demonstration leaders so the kids will realize the seriousness of this particular form of protest and more importantly, the timing!
