April is National Poetry Month. Once again we are sponsoring a poetry contest, open to people with Migraine disease and other head pain disorders, as well as those who care about. The intent of the contest is three-fold — to allow head pain sufferers an avenue of expression, to raise public awareness of the impact of these disorders, and to encourage both patient and public education. Here are the details: Open to all "headachers" and those who care for them Entrants may be from any country Subject must be headache or Migraine related, but may be abstract or metaphoric Poetry may be any format -- rhymed, blank verse, etc. Submission Deadline: Wednesday, Friday, April 11, 2003 Entries will be judged by our friends at MAGNUM, the National Migraine Association. Awards:* Grand Prize: Limited edition print from the works of award winning fine art photographer Michael John Coleman 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place Honorable Mention: number awarded to be determined by the judges To enter, go to http://headaches.about.com/library/nosearch/bl-submit-poet.htm Either copy and paste your poem to this form or enter the title and first two lines on the form and send it, then email the entire poem to poetry@ha-support.com. Please include your mailing address for prizes. Entries may also be faxed to 800-884-1300. Entries will be featured in our April 29, 2003, article on About Headaches/Migraine. Winning entries will also be featured on the MAGNUM site. ALL entries are eligible for prizes, but you may request that your poem be published to the site with a nickname or anonymously. This year's contest is dedicated to Sarah Crawford a wonderful woman whose life was cut short by Migraine disease. I know many people think they "can't write," but I hope many of you will give this a shot. Just sit down at the computer or with paper and pen and pour out your feelings about headaches and/or Migraine. You'll be amazed! Good luck!! * Exact awards have not yet been determined, but will include books, journals, key chains, calendars, and pens.

I once felt the pain coming on, Then promptly went out for a run. I stepped in a hole, And my ankle did roll, So now my best weapon is gone. Must stop .... posting ..... bad poetry .... -Curtis
