Oxygen Nasal Connection

I'm new to this website, and i just got a tank of oxygen for the first time, i usually get the headaches in cycles that last about 4 months. All the tank came with is a nasal plug, but i read a lot of post about people using the face mask, has anyone had any luck with just using the plugs. Also is there a chance of hyperventaling from taking in too much oxygen. Thanks ahead of time to anyone that responds. Good luck with the demon

The nasal plugs (canulla) won't do you any good... especially having O2 blasted up your nose at 8 litres per minute. Ask the place that you're getting the O2 from to give you a non-rebreather mask. If they won't without talking to your doctor... ask them to talk with your doctor. Or if they are clueless... many home health medical places sell them for about $5. If all else fails, you can breath the O2 in through your mouth by just sucking on the O2 tube... but only works if the O2 rate is 10 litres per minute or higher. I have never heard of hyperventilating from too much O2. Occasionally I will be hyperventilating because of the PAIN and so I can't breath O2 with a mask over my face... but never hyperventilating because of O2. Edit: Actually, try your doctor first. Ask if he has any non-rebreather masks. That's how I got my latest supply of Maxalt MLT ( I called and told the nurse that I'm out and my insurance won't pay for more for 15 days. She said sure, come on by and we'll give you 10 physicians samples... no charge).

Yes get the mask ! It works much better. If your insurance allows and if the o2 works I would try to get more than one tank, I get four and when I get down to the last one call and have them bring out four new ones.Oxygen toxicity is what occurs if you breathe concentrated amounts over a period of time but you have no need to worry about that. You would need to be breathing it for almost a whole day straight (20 + hrs) for that to occur.I hope that it works for you, I never leave home without it.
