asking for advice........

i am going to a new neuro in the morning and i am not sure what to ask him to do. here's the situation... i'm at my 600 and something day in a chronic cycle with no pfd's. prior to this shit coming back i had been completely cured (i thought) for 7+ years. the cycle before that was 6+ years, again without a break. during that previous bout i had tried (or had tried on me) virtually every med talked about here except imitrex, o2, and charlie's mind thing.(sorry charlie i am getting hit right now and can't think real straight. this cycle i tried the imitrex and it didn't work. o2 and h2o seemed to be helping but don't seem to be doing a thing now. i can't focus enough to give charlie's thing a good try. the only thing talked about here that i don't think i have tried is oxy and i don't think that is an option for me(liver disease). i guess my question is this..... has anyone out there, chronic or otherwise ever gone back and tried a med they had already failed with and found that it worked the next cycle? i am at my wits end here and would appreciate your feedback. thanks all .... tim

Hi Tim. I know you mentioned that you tried just about everything. For some people the verapamil ER and verapamil SR don't work, but the regular release verapamil does work. Maybe ask your doc to try regular release verapamil at a high dose if you haven't already tried it. Good luck with your appointment.

Tim, I wish I could help you on the med questions more. I know that 02 worked for me, then it didn't, then it kinda did. I think this beast just plays with us....so it probably wouldn't hurt to try the verap, maybe at a higher level. I've read here that sometimes the docs start it way too low. I know mine did, and I had to up it on my own. I'm sorry things are so rough for you right now. I hope this dr.'s visit helps you out. Lots of vibes going your way. Tracey

Hi Tanner- I may be too late in responding but The only med that ever worked for me more than once was the prednisone for a break not long term though. As I stated before I am taking no meds now but in the past had retried a few things with no better results. Have been watching and reading about Botox and it sure sounds like an interesting possibility. A few folks have claimed success with it. Ask the neuro about it. Let us know what is said.

while verapimil er is alway's a constant for me i've mixed it with about everything during cycle & i've found that it either works for me or it doesn't, tried different preventatives at different times it didn't matter. 02 and immitrex alway's help me. good luck to ya! .........Jack
