As a breeder of Golden Retrievers with a litter due any day, I had a lovely couple come to the house today to see my dogs and leave a deposit for a puppy.

As luck would have it the husband is a Neurologist! He practices in the southern NH area and seemed very knowledgeable about CH's. We discussed different meds, etc and the lack of understanding by most Dr's. I told him about this site and the OUCH site. He wrote it down and said he would look at them. Very nice man and very understanding and helpful.  I also told him if he had any patients that needed some support, that they could call me and that they should check out the site. He is buying a puppy from me so I will be able to keep contact with him.

If anyone in the New England area would like more info on him let me know and I'll get his office number from him. He works mostly out of the Wentworth-Douglas hospital in the Dover - Portsmouth area.

Howdy, and what a great piece of news.  We hear such horror stories that something like this is a welcome thing.  Cheesy

By the way, anyone who raises puppies can be a friend of mine.   Cool

;D ;D ChristineL,
Your lucky the Good Doctor is willing to talk shop out of his office for free! If your lucky enough to get any more answers out of him could you ask him if this is a common side affect from Zoloff? For some reason I find myself craving berry flavored Whoppers lately!  Grin  LOL!! Pappy

Actually I kinda went into it gradually once I found out what his profession is. When I told him I had CH's he grimaced and asked what meds I was on. From there on it was easy sailing (no pun intended) Cheesy. We went on and off the subject numerous times as they were really here to see the dogs!! I didn't really ask him for any free advice. just told him about this group and how we need knowledgeable, understanding and supportive docs! What I found interesting is one comment he made about how most Doctors just lump all headaches together and don't take the time to learn about the different ones. He said he just had a patient in last week that he diagnosed with CH. He agrees with Verapamil, Oxygen and also said Lithium for Chronics but thinks Calcium Channel blockers are the meds that work the best for most.  Really helpful and nice guy.
