Broken Thermostat

I have a question - I'm new to this. My first post was just a couple o days ago and now feel bold enough to ask y'all a question. My husband is eposodic text book cluster sufferer. A few things about him that I have not found an explination for in all my reading and research. One is a thermostat problem - seems he cannot control his temperature (sp?) at times. Hands and feet are way cold or he just breaks out in a sweat. This happens in and out of cycles. Also - he stops time! Clocks and watches stop keeping time when he wears them or is around them for a certain period of time. I say he's from another planet and the chip in his head needs fixed. There are other strange things about him but they have nothing to do with his clusters (i think) and you dont want to hear about them. Let me know what you think.
Ps - He's in that Caspsaicin study and currenty in cycle and it has knocked the intensity of the ch way down!!! Good news huh?

Hi! I wanted to send you an answer, but I can't relate to your situation at all. During an "attack" i sometimes get sweaty, but in general my hands and feet are always cold! Its snowing like crazy today and I have been cold all day with the heat set at 72.  Whatever?
I don't stop clocks or anything-sounds spooky to me. I've read alot of posts on here and never heard anything like it.  Glad to hear his Capsacin participation is helping-

Can't relate to the temperature.   However,  most electronic watches will stop working while I wear them unless I put a bandaide or a strip of tape on the base to seperate the metal from my wrist.  Must be an electrical impuse through the nerve thing.

My feet and hands are always real cold (could wake the dead) but that watch thing...I think your hubby and Echo must come from the same planet.  Shocked

Hi Booboo.  If the theory about a malfunctioning hypothalamus as the cause of CH is true, then the body temperature issues may not be so mysterious.  If I'm not mistaken, the hypothalamus plays a large role in sleep/wake cycles and body temperature regulation.

Hi!
I'm with Eyes on this whole hypothalamus thingy.  It could also be because of the meds we're on.  I get the whole body temperature thing..but not cold hands and feet...just feels like hot flashes.  I don't think the clock, watch thing has anything to do with CH.  My boss is able to do the same thing and he doesn't have CH.

Glad to know he is getting some relief with the new med!

Hi beth. often I break out in short sweats for unknown reasons. In and out of cycle. I dont stop clocks but if I wear gold for a few weeks it either turns green or actually starts to breakdown and disintegrate. It has something to do with the bodies electrical fields. Wierd stuff. Think I was a lightning bolt in my last life.

Jarvis, I don't know where you're buying your gold, but natural elements don't break down, like ever.  Gold cannot turn green.  However, gold plated can degrade quicker on a person with lower-than-normal pH perspiration, and lead to discoloration from the underlying metals.  This isn't to flame you bud, it's just not possible for real gold to turn green.

As for temperature regulation, my wife can tell you I'm a hot mofo when I fall asleep, no matter what.  My temperature goes up at least 3-4 degrees, even more usually.  I am running at about 101 degrees and sweating buckets every night.  It's actually quite disgusting, imho.  I don't know how she stands it.  I figured this was connected to my wonderful CH friend, so I guess that's actually likely.

Welcome and happy he's doing better. The only perspiration I seemed to get was when I woke up in a sweat now and then.

How many times has the clock thing happened and was he always alone when this occurred?

Body temperature has always been a player in my ch history.  Hot, cold, extreme fluctuations at varying times throughout....

As for stopping the clock, I wish I could do that at the bank every first of the freakin month. Tongue

Thankyou for all your replies!  I agree with the hypothalamus theory and his inability to maintain a normal temp.  Usually it's at 96.8 - this always confuses the nurses at DR.s offices! I have been present when the clock stoppage has ocured(ha).

Another question - his gland on the right side(same as ch) gets HUGE right before or during a ch.  Is this normal? (and I am well aware nothing is normal in a ch sufferer!!! Cheesy)
 THANKS!!
