Bi-Polar question -- anyone?

Are any of you familiar with the begining stages of someone becoming bi-polar? My wife can go from sweet as the dickens to queen "B", to sweet again within a matter of minutes. Lately the home life reminds me of a ping pong match. Anything and nothing can set her off. Brings up shit from 10 years ago and rehashes it. She demands help with something, I step in to assist and she takes me off at the knees for daring to imply she can't handle it herself. I love the women dearly but, holy shit she's driving me crazy! And for me it's a short trip.

I have been with my wife for 22 years, this week, since we met.   Yall don't get me wrong, but my experience with women indicates the behavior you mention as perfectly normal, with women. I however...... Not to make light of a serious situation, we really do struggle here at my house with depression. If the behavior you describe is new, you may have a problem. See a doctor, meds for depression are much better than just a few years ago. Not so much a "shotgun" approach with treatment. A more targeted approach is avaliable now. I am a believer in therapy also, but do not confuse a medical, chemical problem with a possible problem better addressed with therapy, group or individual. Group has been better for me, kinda like here, it's much more difficult to bullshit a bullshitter. ;D Good luck Echo, we have a lot in common Mark

Echo, How old is your wife? The mood swings could be hormonal and not pschologically induced if she is close to menopause. Don't know if that's a better option or not. At least it could help you understand the dramatic mood swings better. Hang in there man, us women can be a handful. LOL

While I don't like to use menopause as an excuse for wacky, irratic behaviour-I have seen people really change during that period. My mother was horrible and I live in fear of being like her. Others fly throuh unaffected. I would check into that probablity also...they can do hormone level tests to see where she is.

I've got three words for you... P M S At least that's what my wife blames it on when she acts that way. For the love of God, do not... and I repeat... Do not ask her if that's what's wrong... Not if you value your manhood anyways. PFDAN..................................... Drk^Angel

Yeah, I would be much more inclined to point to hormonal changes rather than bi-poloar disorder. If you really want some info on bi-polar, I can get it. My mom's a retired RN, and she's done TONS of personal research into manic depression. (We lost a family member to suicide some years ago, bi-polar was strongly suspected.) PMS can often make a woman rather irritable, and while it *usually* doesn't create SEVERE mood swings, it CAN happen for some. By all means try to get some help for her. Stan

Thanks for the input, advice and warnings. To answer one question - my little wife is 43. Here what I went through lately. She commented three times within 30 minutes that I needed to quit eating so much, lose weight, quit smoking and excercise more. I agree with all of these. At dinner she questioned why I didn't eat much and popped a cork because I didn't eat more. Holy shit!

Hell... That sound's almost like my wife's normal behaviour... Except with her it's sex that she's complaining about. PFDAN................................... Drk^Angel PS... If you're really worried about this... Talk to her about it. Maybe convince her to at least discuss it with her GP, and see what they recommend. DA

Definitely sounds like hormones to me. Her dr. can take a blood test to see her estorgen level. If it wasnt for being on Hormone Replacement Therapy for 8 years for me, I would have killed my whole family and all my friends by now. Anyways, just stay outta her way! suzy

As for your wife shes suffering from Dark Angel Syndrome - it comes on quite quickly, triggers for it include men, marriage and kids, 6 inch rulers and smart alecs!!!!!! Treatment Find a well hung man or a very short one cos you can can hit him over the head with one of the kids without pulling a muscle, and they don't run as fast cos there legs arn't as long.
