Sorry-no jaw pain in my experience. Stays strictly in the eyeball. I can't open my eye during an attack...luckily I only have them at night- Jabeen

My upper teeth frequenty ache during an attach on the same side as the eye pain (and the pain sometimes lingers afterwards .. with the shadows). Just a bonus I guess. Almost feels like you need a root canal sometimes !!!! Jonny's teef never ache ... cause he ain't got none !!!!

From the OUCH site........click this http://www.clusterheadaches.org/library/general/trigeminal_pic.htm You can follow the trigeminal nerve (the big orange one starting on the temple) down the face to the jaw/teeth. You can also follow it to see why it hurts in the eye and nose.

If you are talking about pain DURING the attacks....Absolutely yes! Half of my cycles the pain was (also) in my upper jaw (with all the tooth aching, ALSO those WITHOUT nerves. The other half, both jaws aching. And note that the pain is EXACTLY on the pain side, if you touch, or hit the first teeth on the opposite side.... nothing. But the pain disappear when the attack ceases. (in fact, is the same nerve, the trigeminal) If your subside only, or continue AFTER the attack.... is better to look to other problems (sinus infections, tooth, etc.)

Very sorry for your pain and it sounds pretty bad. My question is: Do these headaches wake you out of a sound sleep? It’s one test for cluster episodes. Charlie

Yes, the pain very frequently descents into my jaw and makes teeth hurt where no nerves are left!

Yes to the pain in teeth. Not allways, only sometimes. I spent lots of money in the past with the dentist to be sure it wasnt the teeth. However the teeth pain seldom remains after an attack and quite often will preceed an attack for hours on way bad days. Sometimes its an intense pain but more often a strong ache like someones pulling on them. Never stronger or even close to the intensity of a full on CH. I think the trigeminal nerve ends are starting to fray from all the commotion it experiences. shakin like a banjo string.

I have suffered only twice with CH each time my teeth ached with intense pain along with eye on one side. I had a attack two years ago in July and just recently in Nov. My attacks lasted 4days from 6-11pm. The one thing that I had that others here don't seem to have is prior to my CH happening I have what appears to be a mild toothache for about two weeks prior to my CH. I then had 48hrs of intense toothache pain along with a painful headache(no sleeping). The tooth ache starts to intesify and it reaches very high pain and then bang my first CH kicks in. From that moment on I have my 3-4days of schedule CH as mentioned above. I also no longer have any toothache pain except when having a CH. Dentist checks teeth and they appear to be normal. Just FYI - I have not seen a neurologist yet so I'm a self diagnosed CH member. So there is always a chance I have something else. Good luck -

Hello there...I am sorry to hear about the pain in your jaw. I have been having some of the same things happen. I thought it might have something to do with the prednisone I was taking. I was told it could have side effects that could include sensitivity in my teeth but shortly after that started I started having this different pain right in my ear and down my jaw into my teeth. I tried to convince myself that it was the medicine and if I would take something different or at a different time of the headache it wouldn't hurt but it still does. If you find out anything please let me know. I had a CAT scan and because it was normal the neurologist said he really had no need to see me. I wish you the best of luck.

Tightness in the jaw is a common side effect from Imatrex (injections, pills, nasal spray) Does this happen after taking an abortive like that... I sometimes get this feeling and I dont like it at all but it does eventually subside... good luck Ree
