I just entered hell last week!!

Hello friends....
I have a doctors appointment set for next week to determine if I suffer from cluster headaches. I was drinking a beer after work last week when I suffered a terrible headache: It felt as if I was beat over the top of my head on the right side with a meat cleaver, my right eye begin to pulsate with pain, my temple begin to "swell" and the back of my head (on the right side and below the cerebulim) begin to inflame. I thought this was isolated. This hurt severly, but I have had atleast one each day since and going on my seventh day in a row and at the same time of day each time.
Each time the pain gets worse and worse and worse. I wonder if getting shot in the head feels like this? Sometimes I wonder if that would tickle compared to this pain.
I have taken tylenol, excedrin, aspiren, ibeprofen ( in rather large amounts) to stop this pain..It helps dull it, but I fear this only adds to other complacations. Although temporary, I feel I have no other choice.
The thing I really fear is my job depends highly on a clear head, which I need to make sound decisive decisions. I can't afford to have a headache like this nor medications floating around in my body.
I hope I'm not diagnosed with clusterheadaches, but it seems with what I've read I might be on that list..
I have a doctor's appoinment next week, and I hope I don't join you, friends, in hell.

Welcome and I'm glad you're seeing a doctor. Some of what you say does sound like clusters. Some does not to me. The once a day thing seems odd. They never bothered the back of my head but I think that has been described here before. Also OTC pain medications will have just about zero effect. If they wake you out of a sound sleep, that would be a very good sign of a cluster attack. How long do they last?

Jeff - welcome and I hope its not CH. Take the cluster quiz (button on the left) and read thru this site and the OUCH website. Both have tons of information that will arm you for the doctor visit next week.

In my 21 years of ch, i almost always would just get one a day but would always be like a kip 9/10. This cycle I had maybe twice that I had multiple ha's in one day, so the daily thing i understand but like Charlie said, some of the other stuff doesnt all sound like ch.
