Question....

Blake wants to know if any of you are up tight, tense, muscles in a knot, etc. when in cycle. He says he has to get up and walk around or take deep breaths to relax. If so do you think it's the meds you're on or fright/nerves or some of both. He feels like he's about the explode most of the time. Jacks

jeezus, Jacks! If ya 'took care of him" once in awhile, he wouldn't feel like he's gonna explode! check to see if they are blue! ;D Seriously, it may be the meds, or the net effect they have on the bod..... fright/nerves never come to my mind when I enter a cycle..... exhaustion, maybe... Slammy

Jackie, I think the reason he feels this way is probably from lack of sleep, anticipation of the next bout with the beast. I would bet on that, think of all the sleep you lose at this time? suzy

Jacks - yes, I do get all knotted up. My doc put me on Elavil on an "as needed" basis to help relax the muscles. He gave me a "pediatric" dosage. I tried the Robaxin route but I didn't have as much luck with it. Knew a guy once who was a karate nut. When he got stressed he went into his garage and broke boards. Always came to work with bandages on his hands. ;D Good luck domm

| Slammy......you "relentless" asswipe..... ;D I would agree that it could be lack of sleep if that were the case. However, right now he is getting hit during the day so sleep hasn't been a real issue. Jacks

I spend more time trying to not relax. cant sit cause I might. I do get tensed up in neck and shoulders though. Head sometimes feels like its gonna explode with the weather systems too. Some tenseness due to no sleep im sure. Or could be the 100s of pushups I do all night to slow these damn things up. Dont take no meds. so cant comment on that.......

Hey Jacks, Hey Blake! yes I get very tense. It usually starts at the beginning of a cycle...even before I start getting hit. That's how I know that the bastard is on his way. I tried going for a massage every week to loosen up the old muscles..but as I'm sure you know..that just makes the beast visit that much sooner! But it's only in the shoulders/neck area. The rest of the bod remains relaxed. At least I think it does. hugs Ann

YES YES and YES. Tense all the time (probably stress) during attacks though extra tense just before it hits mostly in head and neck, noticable throughout my body, what little of it there is. No doubt to me there is a connection with the meds as the tension is sometimes worse after taking them, but at least the headaches go away. Cerebus

I am extremely tense in the neck muscle behind my right ear. I take my thumb and jam it into that muscle as hard as I can when I get one. Usually end up with a bruise there.

Yes, my left shoulder and left side of my neck tense up and thats when I know the damn thing is coming. I went to get a massage last night and boy was that a BIG mistake! The Beast hit full force right in the middle of the massage. I could not get off that table fast enough to get to my meds.

I tend to get tense in my neck and shoulders as I start work and then it wears down later in the day. I think it happens to me because I'm so terrified of getting an attack at work. That, and when I do feel one coming on at work, I get tenser for a minute or two because I'm afraid of how bad it might get. maggie

I also get nervous and tense during my cycle. I have often wondered if it was the meds, but since I usually only take cafergot and then O2 when I feel it coming, I think it is not the meds but something else. Anyway it appears to happen to most of us.

I definitely get muscle knots and tension when I'm in cycle, but I couldn't tell you if it was just from the meds or the tension of waiting for the next round with the beast. The exhaustion lack of proper sleep and endless waiting for that next attack tends to stress me out Cat

My neck and right shoulder are a bundle of tight muscle. I request physical therapy from my dr every now and then to help keep it in line.

Actually mines been the opposite, The attacks wipe me out...so I am usually end up sleeping better. Right now I have been pain free for 2 days goin on 3. And I am a bundle of nerves. Now that could be the topamax or could be just sitin wait for the axe to drop.

It wouldn't surprise me if tension had something to do with mine. I'm older now and since I buried all my relatives. They have to be dead by now.....I know I'm more relaxed. Mine disappeared during this stressful time though. Sounds nuts. I'm losing it. Charlie

I also get tensed up! I feel like I have a massive knot in my shoulder and neck on my left side. I also think I tense up just waiting for it to hit again!!!

Jackie, Definitely YES! Neck & shoulders...sometimes really bad. I"ve been trying to get a massage every other week and it seems to aleviate a lot of the pain in those areas. If I try to go more than 2 weeks without the massage my neck gets really bad again. Virginia
