Of SLACK, and other things.......

One thing you have to admit about this place..........it’s never boring. Feeling a bit _Chipper_ yesterday, I decided to take a few hours off from the usual grind of wading thru post after incessant post. Why not? I’ve been a good little boy, staying relatively sober for a little over two weeks now......for all the good it’s done me, since in the meanwhile I’ve been ingesting mass quantities of PERFECTLY LEGAL DRUGS by the bucketful. Heck, I even know the names of the night time custodians at all the pharmacies within a 12 mile radius. Neato......
So last night, I crank up the old monitor and toaster to see what new wisdom is available to ponder on another cold, dark, rewarding Philadelphia night...........only to find that things have gone to Hell in a Handbag during my short respite. The smell of cordite was still hanging heavy in the air, and the occasional slug was whizzing by my head. Discretion ALWAYS being the better part of my valor, I decided to Exit (stage left), and pursue another, less life-threatening form of therapy. {Don’t tell `em anything, Woobie.....it’s more fun to let their imaginations run rampant with what little grey matter they have left. Besides, the Kleenex Replacement Truck won’t be here until Friday morning, remember?} Off I go to face another tantalizing treatment in the Bed of Dread; Mrs. Happy is snoring away, blissfully unaware of the TOTAL MELTDOWN occurring in the far sewers of the internet and crepitating away, filling the sheets (as well as room, upper half of the house and attic) with odors highly reminiscent of last nights banquet of seared mammal flesh basted in vats of garlic. Mmmmmm...................
Not wanting to miss a moment of the “Good Times”, it naturally took me a while to blissfully *Pass Out*. Woke up after a full 90 minutes of Mental Refreshment, fully charged, raring to go, my mind filled with thoughts of enlightenment, sharing, and cheap sex. Time to brew another bucket of Rocket Fuel, get the family fed & out the door, then check back in on the real world. Earth-Shattering Suprise #47: the Internet Fairy had been here over the night, and replaced all the feral mongerels from the previous day with a new breed of unrepentant posters, ALL USING THE GUISES OF FAMILIAR SINNERS. Could it get any better than this, especially considering the price of admission? Not in my book, bucko. Decided it was time to whip up a rant of my own, let somebody else “Taste the Tea” first, then slip this in to see if any remnants of the OLD Them were starting to show. No hurry, and besides, I’ve got my own Pain Paranoia Pastime to keep me busy during the *Down Time*. Heh. Like I said at the start....one thing this ain’t is Boring!

It’s really amazing how relative a little _Slack_ can be, and how everyone has their own delusional definition. On the one had, there’s the poor chronic folks that are going through Endless Hours/Days of Repetitive Agony, unresponsive to any medications (snake oil or *clinically proven effective* by the Bishop of Clusterberry, Mahatma Ueli), tolerating the Ultimate Joke on Humanity with great aplomb (I DIDN’T mention you by name, Jill). Then on the other side, there’s the lucky episodic few (me), that respond immediately to a quick squirt up the nose of the Nectar of the Gods. Way SLACK! You really have to appreciate Wotan’s wry sense of humor on this one, eh? It’s no wonder I choose my gods so carefully........there’s so many, and so little time. You all have to make your own decisions: walk that tightrope of Religious Rules for Rightness, looking forward to an eternity of UTTER SALVATION and BLISS; or, like me, go for something a little more daring/challenging for the soul to contemplate over the ages. Sort of a real “Toin Cosser”, eh? Think about it if you want to..........I’m too sleep deprived to be concerned with such mundane matters. It’s a fresh pack of smokes and a cup of liquid tar for me. Tomorrow's another day, too.
