Hi ya'll, This is for the CH sufferers out there. What one thing do non-ch'ers do or say that really irk you, when it comes to these piece-of-sh*t headaches? And do you tell them, or do you realize it's ok? I'll go first: My wife will say she has a killer headache and ask me to get her 2 tylenols. I let it slide though. (Because I'm a wuss. LOL) Regards, Brad

LOL, Brad, Are you having a bad day?? I think it pisses Ramon off when people dont think they're THAT bad. It's a "headache" after all. I think "headache" is the wrong term.. Tina

I can’t say that I really get pissed off with anybody whose intentions are good…But, during this 8 week cycle which started on Oct. 20, I’ve gotten: “Have you tried chamomile tea? That always works for me.” “A good foot rub should cure that.” “Are you taking Vitamin C?” “Yea, it’s allergy season.” 3 days ago, when I was driving to work (at night) the oncoming headlights started to set me off, so I pulled over popped a Maxalt and waited it out. When I explained to the Manager what had happened and why I was late, he (seriously) suggested: “Why don’t you wear sunglasses when you drive at night?” This one did piss me off: I got a kip 7.85 at work (no oxygen) and was in the wine room with a cloth napkin folded up over my eyes and tied behind my head, hunched over in a corner shrouded with a table cloth and I heard a waiter asking someone right outside the door: “Why can’t David come out and talk to my table about wine?”. The other person said “He’s going through one of his bad headaches”. The waiter said, “Oh Jesus Christ, give me a break, he’s at work, if you have a little pain at work you have to just suck it up and go on with your job”. Now that I think about it, there are more that do piss me off, so I better give it up for now. May you all find comfort, David

The headaches are more closely related to a epilectic seizure of the brain. There are some bad cells, an overactive hypothalamus (your body clock) with a minute difference in the size in the grey matter from the left and right side. Over time, something (yet to be discovered) finally triggers the hypothalamus to send a signal which starts the headache cycle. Headaches put you in a cycle until your body clock can be reset to not trigger the headaches any longer. Preventative medicine is key so that you can mess with the clock to stop the clusters. The latest cluster headache study is being conducted with civamide: http://archneur.ama-assn.org/issues/v59n6/abs/noc10084.html

I really hate it when someone sees me getting an attack and doesn't immediately offer to pay all my bills for the year and then go clean my house. Bastards!

Things that piss me off.... Mark Cs throbbing red orb on his posts. Hey mark it hurts like hell to look at that at times..............Other things,...its all in your head,......can I get you an aspirin,......why dont you lay down for a while,.........does it hurt bad,..... I once ruined a perfectly good microwave cause it had a little flashing red lite on it when needing to be reset..It used to really piss me off. interupting my nightly rituals. I killed it one intense night at 3am. may it rest in peace.

What pisses me off is EVERYBODY gets "migraines" too, and they "know how the pain is." First off, I had migraines growing up as a kid - the auras the whole bit. Those hurt, but they don't touch a cluster's pain. Not even close. Also, if everyone who tells me they get migraines actually does, then the incidence of migraines is about 90% of the population. I have yet to personally meet anyone else who gets clusters though (besides my brother.)

when I get an attack while playing a really good game of golf. It is hard to putt with tears coming down. I gutted it out once until the pain brought me to my knees. I now take my imitrex with me everywhere. Funny thing though, I actually pared three holes in a row with a 10 bearing down on me. The Beast finally won and concentration became impossible. The incident did reveal that I had a high tolerance for pain. BIG DEAL. I would rather not have the pain---it hurts.

I've been angry MANY times over the last 22 years of living with the beast....but I believe the kicker was this past January. Here is the scenerio - I was admitted into the hopsital w/ a DHE IV for 6 days. I have a "chatty kathy" nurse who wants to stay in my room all night long. I'm on massive meds and pretty much out of my mind. My veins are all blown due to the meds and I'm not a happy camper. The nurse walks in - grabs her right temple and says to me "my head is hurting - I know what you have been going through - these migraines are just too much at times." The nurse is still living, but she got an earful of me that night! NotH20

When someone says "If you would just lay down and remain calm it will go away." "Have you taken an asprin?" "Reminds me of the headache I got the other day, not to mention the pain associated with this hangnail". I whisper -- please come near so I can beat you bald, paint you blue and ship you to Afganistan.

6 billion people surveyed....top five answers on the board. 1. " since you know when they are going to happen, how much of it is psychosomatic?" 2. " does it hurt THAT bad?" 3 "On a scale of one to ten.....where do you rate your pain?" 4. " Do They know what causes it?" 5. " We have to be at the airport/ movies in 20 minutes, do you think you can hurry that well done two inch thick steak we ordered?" And the #1 response to all of the above..... 1. I am the one known as Cerebus, the Gates of Hell are my charge, be it known that when Heaven fails to open to recieve your mortal soul, you shall not pass by me un-noticed, I will kill you again!

Today has been one of those days! And when I saw this post, I knew it would help. There are lots of things that piss me off. You can only take 2 Maxalts in 24 hours, so i have to hold out for the bad ones. The first one is usually the one I wake up to at night. my mother gets migraines and acts like i am being a baby. (i had migraines when i was younger, and i can vouch that she has NO idea) ..."does it really hurt that bad..." ..."just relax and lay down..." (yeah right ) ..."you are going to be fine, so stop banging your head off of things..." I am on the 8th day of this cycle. I am episodic, so I know it has to end sometime. Last time it lasted 5 weeks. I just pray that it will end! I pray that it the pain stops for everyone out there. thanks for listening.

Things that piss me off: 1. People who say "have you ever tried acupuncture?" "have you ever tried excedrin migraine?" "have you ever tried a chiropractor?", etc, etc.... 2. nurses in the ER who tell me to LAY DOWN while waiting for the DR. Luckily, my mom is usually with me and she tells them off for me. 3. Dr's who say to me "what would you like to try?"...I'm sorry, who's the one with MD behind his name??? 4. and of course my favorite (like others) is "oh yeah, I know how you feel...I get migraines too". Those people are so lucky they haven't been smacked by me yet!
