16 Year ClusterHead Ready 2 Do Shrooms - HELP ME

Hello Everyone  Cool,

I'm John from the Los Angeles area, and I've been suffering from Cluster Headaches since age 20, (1986, December).  Like many, I initally thought the problem was: sinus, tooth, or brain annurism... (hell, if you let Us Americans tell it... your ass is about to "burst a blood vessel in ya head", "ya better have an MRI done... sheeyit"Wink.

In 1991 I was "properly diagnosed" by a Doctor of Dental Surgery at UCLA's Pain Management Clinic; (Stephen B. Graphradford, DDS), who published a rather lenghly, but informative essay called "HEADACHE THAT PRESENTS AS TOOTHACHE PAIN"' the Amer Journal Of Medicine [cerca 1990]... Needless to say, "Cluster" was one of the headaches described.  THAT WAS THE DEFINING MOMENT FOR ME.

Diagnosis:   Chronic Cluster Headaches
Cycle:  Initially-Every Other Day - 6-9:00 pm; 1.5-2 hours in attack duration, (age 20).  No Remission

Cycle Shift:  Awakened [At Peak Of Attack] Every Other Night at either 1-2 am, or 4-6 am.  No Remission

Frequency:  Initially 1 attack, every other day / night.

Frequency Shift(s):  Subsequently 1 attack daily.  Sometimes 2 attacks daily for most of "any given year" from 1986-present; depending on "mood of the beast".

Initially Prescribed in 1991:  O2 @ 6 lpm for 15 mins + Vaso dialators + Ergostat 2mg sublingual tabs (Stopped working 15 days after initial diagnosis).  The oxygen was the only thing prescribed that helped relieve the pain.

Also prescribed:  Fiorinol, Depakote, ***Sumatriptan in ***Imitrex pill form.   NOTE:  *** The very first (and last) time I tried Sumitriptan / Imitrex to abort my CH; I thought I might fuckin' burst a blood vessel in my head.  The "side effect" was a feeling of exrteme fatigue; as though the "back of my head and neck" were being "squeezed in a vice".  That told me then and there that L-Tryptophans DO NOT & WILL NOT WORK FOR ME.

Last Thursday on the 7th of Nov., I had fucking "five attacks" in "less than 24 hours".  And NO!!!... THE MU'FUCKIN' OXYGEN WUZ NOT WORKING TO ABORT THE FUCKING PAIN.......AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!  This past Tuesday, I had a total of "three" in a 16 hour span.

Last Dec. in 2001, I came accross a natural remedy called Migraleve at 20.00 / bottle which consists of "1 Mineral, 1 Vitamin, and 1 Herb":

Magnesium 1000+ mgs (Oxide/Glutamate form)
Vitamin B2 [Riboflavin] 400+ mgs
Feverfew [Tanacetum Parthenium] 1000 mgs

THE ABOVE CAN BE PURCHASED FROM: GNC -- [Magnesium, B2 (sometimes) & Feverfew herb]/ The Pharmacy -- [Magnesium, B2 (Order from Pharmacist)

After two weeks of saturating my system; I went from daily excruciating hour-long attacks to "Pain Free / Pain Free with "Shadows", or traces" by the third week in December, with no "significant attacks".  At least until, this past June...   And, THE OXYGEN HAS ALL BUT STOPPED ABORTING THE ATTACKS.

I've done my research on "MAGIC MUSHROOMS" and feel that this is "MY ONLY TREATMENT RECOURSE TO BREAK THE 16 YEARS OF PAIN".  God knows, I wish there was another way, but at this point... I CAN'T EVEN FUNCTION ON A DAY - DAY BASIS ANYMORE 'CAUSE THE PAIN'S TOO DEBILITATING.  I'm unable to work, I  have no insurance, an estranged family that "has never ever really understood nor truly accepted my illness as anything other than "simple migranes", and lastly... the O2 is almost out.

If ANYONE CAN POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, I would greatly & sincerely appreciate it.  THE SOONER I CAN BREAK THE CYCLE OF PAIN; THE BETTER.

Thanks for listening & for accepting me into the CH.com family, but most of all ... just for being here... AS I AM NO LONGER ALONE WITH THIS!!!

Sincerely,

John Lanton

sorry to read that the O2 and other preventatives are not doing the trick.  Seems like the CH beast consistantly changes his MO.
Hope you find the med combo platter that does the trick.

Im just wondering... is that feeling of your head being squeezed in a vice  REALLY a side effect of Imitrex, or is that part of the CH headache.  (my husband has the HAs, not me.. so I don't know)
The reason I ask is because Ramon said the same thing.  And he can't tell if it's part of the HA or if it's a side effect either.   Every time he's had a bad one and taken something, it's always been Imitrex... so he's always had it.  See what I'm sayin?   I hope I'm making sense here.  (no sleep)
Thanks.
