I feel terribly fortunate

Because:

The NHS Hotline was able to suggest that the headaches from which I was suffering could possibly be cluster headaches.  They were tentative but at least gave me a name to research.

Researching led me here via Google.  Thank heavens for Google and thank heavens for the Internet and, more that that, thank heavens for you.

The support you all gave unstintingly in response to my initial fearful and inarticulate posting gave me reassurance and relief, not to mention courage.  And that was before the actuall attacks were even diagnosed to be cluster headaches.

One of you (private mail so I wont give name, stand up and be counted, with my thanks everlasting!) mailed me with advice, help, and a name to contact in London.

I did and yesterday visited the neurologist in London who diagnosed clusters (99 percent certain).

I am out of the bout, this was the other one percent but should I have another I will be involved in the research, given that the timing is right.

My doctor, who refused to contemplate the remotest possibility of my having clusterheadaches will be informed.

This was my first bout, I am so very fortunate to not have gone through the many years of misdiagnosis, suffering - from the headaches and mis-prescribing side effects.  I am so sorry many of you (most of you) have suffered so much.

Without you all I would not have been so lucky.  Thank you.

I lurk and read a lot, I feel shy to post but things needed saying.

Terrific that you're getting the help you need. Every now and then, this place lives up to its promise. Good for you and good for DJ's little project.

Stick around and contribute. Posting is fun. Glad to have you aboard.
