Dosage....

Hello everybody,

For the last three months my attacks have been coming more and more. The last three weeks I haven't slept one night without waking up. The shadows are teasing my the whole day and once or twice a day their boss arrives. I hate that thing!!!

My neuro is helping to kill it. For the last two months he has been giving me Verapamil without any result. So now I'm starting with Lithium, 100 mg in the morning and 100 mg in the evening.
Can anyone tell me if this is a normal dosage or if it is to high/low.

PFD to all of you,

 Rik

it's too low, Rik - my hubby started with 300 mg. for the first few days, then 600 mg. for the next few (with blood tests in between dosage changes), then went up to 900 mg. to finally break his cycle, combined with 720 mgs of verap.
1200 - 1800 mg is the dosage for bi-polarism...clusterheads don't need that much, but 200 is probably not going to make much of a difference...is your neuro giving you plan to ramp up the dosage over the next little while?  maybe he's just wanting to see how you tolerate it before he increases you.

I'm with Margi on this one!!!  I've just started lithium too!  My neuro started me on 300 mgs for 5 days and then 600 mgs after that.  Blood test on the 25th of november to check my lithium levels.  Do you have problems with kidney's or liver?  Could explain the low dosage.  How much verapamil on you on?  I'm at 360 mgs a day...can't tolerate more than that unfortunately, cause it was really doing the trick.  Palpitations got so bad I had to be replaced for an hour at work every day!  Good thing my boss is such a sweetheart...he's the one that replaced me!   Roll Eyes

Like ann said, unless you have kidney or liver problems, it's probably too low. I'm on 900mg a day along with 720mg of verapamil a day. I've been on the Lithium for 9 months....still have 2-3 HA's a day. Hope you have better luck than I.
