I havent seen any info on this but Im curious. CH seems to be a seasonal HA for most of us and I was wondering if anyone here that lives in a climate that remains the same all year, such as aruba where its in the 80's year round, gets CH? If they dont, maybe we can all move down there and take over the place. Anyone have any input on this?

Hi Suzy, Look at this.... "Cluster headache is so named because attacks occur in groups or clusters separated by periods of pain-free remissions. The mean age of onset is 28 to 30 years, although attacks may begin during childhood or in later life. During the cluster period, attacks may recur once per week, or eight attacks per day may occur. Most patients experience one to two attacks daily. The individual attacks usually are brief, lasting 30 to 180 minutes each (mean, 45 minutes). Attacks tend to recur at the same time each day and are notable in that they often occur at night, awakening the patient from a sound sleep. A seasonal preponderance occurs, with cluster phase often occurring in the spring or autumn months." http://www.clusterheadaches.org/library/general/ch_general.htm Hope this helps. Later, Mark

Hi Suzy617 I work in Nigeria, West Africa pretty much the same year round. "HOT" I think the trigger is by seasonal or daily Biological cycles. Who k now's, I'm in a postion to live anywere I would like. and would give it a try. The very best to you! David

Based upon the cluster survey (button on right), it doesn't seem that CH is necessarily seasonal. 13% claim cycles start in spring 9% claim summer 15% claim fall 7% claim winter 35% claim random start My current cycle has been going for 13 months and now may be winding down (I hope). Usually they started in fall. Now that this one is ending, I don't have any clue when the next cycle will start. Also, seasonality doesn't explain chronics. It is probably more correct to say that CH is cyclical, not seasonal.

Ahhh. Flaming Orbits quotes facts rather than give an "I think". I like that. Worth noting is that the survey he refs. has more than 11,000 responses. Bigger, I'm sure, than any survey any of the medicals have done. I believe, based on the survey, the seasonal preponderence goes down in flames along with the square jaw, small wife, big guy stuff.

Welcome to our ward. You'll find us full of ideas and questionable stuff that doesn't come from me My CH seemed to me to behave as seasonal. It probably wasn't. It's very easy to remember the "hits" and forget the "misses" which skewes the data and is the reason why so many pay attention to psychics and idiots like John Edward. Charlie
