Blessed They Are Few -- 10/25/2002
Blessed they are few,
A lonely, scattered few,
To have experienced the pain,
That I have endured,
But they are all special,
In their own little way,
Above and beyond,
The curse they've been bestowed,
As punishment for a crime,
That no one is capable of remembering,
Or is possible to reason,
Could cause such a fate,
They walk on,
Into the future before them,
Under the weight of the beast,
That grows heavier every season,
But has become as familiar,
As an old, worn coat,
But this in one object,
They'd be glad to forget,
But it won't weigh them down,
They will fight to the last,
And still never give in,
When at last all pain is ended,
And they arrive to the end,
Of their path they have walked,
For so very long.
