I would like to ask that you keep my 18 month niece in mind. She has just been admitted to Buffalo's Childrens Hospital with what appears to be menengitis. We wont know for another day the result of the spinal tap but she could use all the good thoughts and prayers ya have to spare... Thank You all

Shari Rae... why is it taking so long for those results... I am a survivor of Spinal Meningitis... are you saying to find whether it is Bacterial or Viral??? It does take 24 hours for that.

Your niece and family are in our prayers. Our oldest boy contracted menigitis when he was 6 months old. He also had salmanella and a brain abcess. He was given 5 percent chance to live. Guarenteed he would be deaf and blind from a 107 degree fever that he had for close to a week. We were told that he could be brain dead, mentally retarted, epilepsy, etc. and that was if he lived.
After much prayer the brain abcess went away on its own right before they were going to do brain sergery to remove it. He spent close to 5 months in the hospital but he made it through and is fine today and is not deaf, blind, or have any health issues. God does answer prayer and we will pray for you and your family. Keep the faith!

;D  My strongest prayers and deepest pleading with the Big Guy is on its way right this second, 18 months old is such a tender, innocent age, but this might also be one of the best assets, this child has right now, they have a natural resilience to overcome uncermountable odds and fight off viruses and conditions that would surely take us home, so I will continue to pray and you continue to believe in miracles!

All my best thoughts and wishes are there for your little one. My favourite age is that 18 month stage, they are so curious and full of life. That love of learning all about life is what will pull her through. She'll probably start asking all kinds of questions about her surroundings once she starts to feel a little better.

Thank you all for your kind words..thoughts and prayers.The docs have determined it is indeed meningitis by the results of the spinal tap...we just wont know which kind until tomorrow at the earlies...keep your fingers crossed.....What a great bunch!! Tears :~~~)
