I just found this site today at work, I have been dealing with this for about 5 years. They were always a pain, but this past week has been unbearable, today at work I got one and to try and pass the time I did a search on 'suicide headache' and this site came up. Between pacing around my office and wiping the tears from my left eye, I read as much as I could and have learned more than any of the 6 doctors I have been to see about this.
Sometimes it's more than even the most strong willed person can take, and It's impossible to expalin to people who don't understand how unbearable the pain is.
I already feel better about this, I thought I had a brain tumor or something. This week I will be sure to quiz my doctor about this, he seems to think Clartin-D and Allegra should fix my problems, but I know it's not a sinus problem. If sinus headaches were this painfull there would be a cure by now.

Welcome aboard. It is never good to have CH, but it sure is good to know the things are real and you aren't just going out of your mind. I can remember how many times my dad, a paramedic, would tell me - "HEadaches just don't happen like that."
I thought I was going nuts. But when the doctor told me what they were when I was in the middle of an episode, I was happy to put a name on the demon.

Blew - welcome home. Click your way through this site and the OUCH site. Buttons on the left. There is relief from this damn horrid condition, you may need to educate your doc, but it can be done. If he/she won't listen, find a new one. Don't take no for an answer, because you are not crazy, and you're not alone.

Welcome home! Sorry you have to join our little pain fest. The good news is, you've just found a place that has more info, more empathy, and more support than any place else when it comes to cluster headaches.
The 6 drs that you have been to see, were any of them neurologists? I would suggest going to see one if you haven't already...if you have, then go see another one. There is a list of recommended dr's by location on the OUCH website (link to the left). But most importantly, don't leave the treatment of your ch up to the dr. Arm yourself, by reading, by asking questions, and by reading some more. Go to the dr's prepared with what you want to try. Some suggestions: oxygen (see link to the left) imitrex (or any of the triptans) and a good preventative (verapamil works for a lot of people here). The more you tell us about what you have already tried, the more we can help.
A script of Imitrex - $60. The support and info awaiting you here when the Imitex doesn't work - priceless.

Welcome! I know what its like-the first dr. gave me eye drops, the 2nd dr. gave me sleeping pills. Very frustrating...when I found a neuro who knew exactly what I had I was ecstatic. However it was good news/bad news...there is no treatment that works for everyone. After I found out what I had and went to the book store, I found out that I was practically textbook-it bothered me that neither dr. had a clue when my symptoms were so textbook. Good luck-lots to read here-

In no time at all you will know more about being a Clusterhead than 99% of Earthling doctors. Sorry you need to be here but glad you are. Read, read read, then read some more. Educate yourself so you can educate your Doctors, they need it. Good luck and let us know how you do!

when first went to the doctor, she told me the same thing, take some allegra and it will be alright. a week later i went back and she prescribed maxalt, and that seems to do the trick.....welcome anyway ;D

Know how you feel blew - sorry and elated at the same
time- but you'll find more here then in 99% of any doc's
office. Load up here and then find a doc. If he/she listens great, if not, find one that does.
It's amazing! My sinuses have been just dandy since I
stumbled across this website. I just wish I could say the
same about the right side of my face.

meds hold the left side of my face drops to my knees
and say why me.Found this site read a lot went to
a neuro told him i want imitrex injections to stop the
the plain.So every time i get a ch i take imitrex and it
helps me for now.Hand in there you are not alone.The
people on this site are great people and they will
help you
