31 days on this attack.
2 or 3 HA a day....
5-8 on the Kip.
My head hurts.
For 25 freakin years now.
I am gettin' pissed off.
I think I will just hang up and listen for a while....

No I dont think that is one I have tried, yet. I just came came back from the Neuro yesterday and Topamax was the untried one this time. Seems to be pretty nasty stuff. Neuro not wanting to try O2 yet either, not sure why. I think my General will let me try it. (O2)
It would seem to me anything non-chemical that may work would be first on their list..oh well.
Cafergot...is it abortive or preventive?

The first thing a Neuro that knows CH would give you is 02, You are right Cox, no sideffects so why the not?
Work on that 02, Bro, chances are good that it will make a big difference for you.

Cafergot is an abortive.... cafeine and ergotomine... it's generic name is ercaf. I know BobP and I swear by it. Imitrex, zomig, maxalt pills do not seem to take affect in time for me. the Imitrex shots work for me when I wake up in the middle of the night with a full blown cluster...along with the O2.....but during waking hours, when I feel the tightness coming on, signaling the start of a cluster, I pop a cafergot. almost always, it will abort it before it gets beyond a kip1 or 2.

I had the same thing (oxygen) with my doctor, I have not had these for about 4 years, heard great things about oxygen.... Zomig, Amerge, Maxalt not doing anything. called the doctor wanted to try oxygen...she would not even discuss it says I have to wait and ask the neuro when I see him in two more weeks. I am pissed.. what makes more sense, the med info I read says oxygen shows to be about 80% effective for those that try it, no other meds for abortive show that kind of response, but they would rather write a new script for some other Migrane medicine.......gcb

I will be more aggressive in my own treatment. It seemed the Neuro had a plan before I went in and it didnt include O2. That will change. I will be heard or I will change DRs.
I did have something called Ergostat a few years back Slammy. Is that like Cafergot? As I remember it worked for a short time if taken soon enough.
Like 12 hours PF now........could the cycle be broken?
God I hope so, the longest cycle I ever had was about
2 months and I am on day 31 here so its about time to stop.
Then I can have more positive posts!
One more thing, Jonny, if all else fail, I have an Uncle in the O2 delivery business here local I think can hook me up. I will survive!

I know this is bad news but here it is...
Cafergot/ Ercaf is same thing, BUT it was pulled from the market last year, I have asked erveryone around the WWW and all doctors here in Jacksonville, FL about this and been told the same thing ITs GONE 
It was sold as an abortive med, But I used it as a preventive by takeing 1 tab a day 2 weeks before my season started thur 2 weeks after my season ended and didnt have so much as a shadow for 6 years, But it is no longer around.
I would sale my soul for that med.
6 year vet of Cafergot/ Ercaf.

Now if you live some where in this world where someone has stock piled it please tell me.

Yes I have and yes it is still listed on almost every drug site on the web.
Think about it for a sec, Do you think that if a drug kept me CH free for 6 years I would not be takeing it right now if it were still around.
Oh how I wish this was not the case, But feel free to e-mail or call any store you want.
I have been looking since last Dec 2001 and nothing but dead ends.
Number one reason I keep getting is The drug did not make enough money (ie, 100 tabs @ $70.00 ) on line and at any local drug store they were $210.00 per 100.
I have 2 tabs left that I locked in my small safe just so I can say There used to be a drug that worked for me and this is what it looked like.

I wasn't doubting your word. My first thought was the doctors that said it was off the market were wrong or maybe the manufacturer wasn't kickin' enough back to the doc.

Ok,
I just off the phone with James at drugestore.com and here it is.......
Ercaf is gone no longer made,
Cafergot, They have 58 tabs in the store right now that have been there for some time, But they dont know if they can or cant get more of it and have no way to find out other then ordering it and waiting to see if it comes in.
They wont order it unless one of us places an order for it.
So I say that since theres no way I can do it till next week some time that any of you that need it bad enough and can transfer your scritp from 1 store to another then I would jump on the 58 they have and see if they are infact able to get more.
This will help the ones of us that also need it, Just post here if your able too or care too do this so that the rest of us know if theres any hope left in getting this great little tab.

I know how frustrating it can be to finally find a med. that works and they pull it because it doesn't make enough money. It happened to me about 10 years ago. I found a little inhaler called Medihaler ergotimine. Wonderful abortive, 1 puff and in 3 minutes CH gone. No side effects, no hang over. Loved it! Six months after I found it, Puff, gone. Haven't found anything else that works as well since.
Have you tried any other caffine/ergotomine meds? Good luck in finding one that works as well.
