Teen drinking&hypothalamus defect link?

I don't know if this has been addressed..sure it has at some point..but I was curious if it has been looked at. I read an article in the Readers Digest a couple issues back I believe..it was about teen drinking and how it has been found that teens who drink, do damage to the hypothalamus. I am just curious to know how many of us that now suffer from clusters, drank as teens. I know I did. I know this may be another grab into the dark at something, but it was on my mind. PFNAD to you

I drank as a teen. Why did you put "teen" as a past tense timeframe for you?

Dad let me have a small juice glass of beer or a smaller glass of Mogen David or some such sickening wine at the holidays, even as a small boy. It worked. Alcohol was never all that interesting to me as a teenager. Mostly, I began my regular beer drinking after I got CH at 23. I don't think that qualifies as teen drinking. Drinking wasn't a trigger for me but I rarely drink now. Burp.......Charlie

Here's a little something on alcohol and the brain. It doesn't speak of any damage though. I'd like to read the Digest article. http://www.howstuffworks.com/alcohol4.htm

...gotta turn over every rock. Go fish. I keep/kept a journal for years. I got so burnt out over searchin for a clue cause nothin seemed to indicate a "cause" or "trigger" for me. I concentrated on managing the inevitable. I remember a time here when some said "we have talked about every aspect of Clusters...there is nothin new to say" Not a damn thing wrong with askin....silly questions....or singin silly lovesongs. It's a new day and it's yer quarter. I drank enough to sink ....uh....uh....well....any good man...and my Clusters didn't start till later in life. I know a lot of serious drunks...I'm the only one so far that I've met with Clusters. Walk in the sunshine den

I never drank as a teen. It is true, I didn't have my first drink until I was 21. Again, I prove that I truly am a freak of nature.

I was a little boy as a kid. I did little boy things. Like eating dirt. Chewing on blades of grass. Eating figs straight from the tree. Tasted a few bugs. As a teenager I ate too much french fries and drank too many Cokes. I also tried a keg or two of beer. Which one of these caused my hypothalamus to be deformed? Probably none. IMHO, clusterheads were born with a deformed hypothalamus. Blame it on your genes. Or your parents. Or the weird great-great grandfather that caught it in the old world and brought to your neighborhood. We have a defect, a fault, a deficiency that we inherited. We just have to learn to live with it.
