This is just a message of sympathy and perhaps a glimmer of hope for all of you suffering. I had my first cluster at the age of 19 and appalling bouts thereafter every few months until I was 42. Nothing worked (I was up to the eyeballs in belladonna at one stage, not a good idea I've discovered since but in those days nobody really took this very seriously). You could see the holes in the walls where I'd banged my head during a 3am I-cant-stand-this-any-longer attack. Then... one worst-ever bout lasting two months, and they stopped. For good (my fingers are crossed still). I'm now 56 and daily grateful for it being over. The cessation coincided with a massive stress period of my life (my wife died suddenly) which may have had something to do with it (I dont recommend anything so drastic). The only residue is that I now regularly get what seem to be the first warnings of an attack - dazzle vision, faint nausea - but this wears off after around 20 minutes. So it may not be forever, folks. I hope you're one day as lucky as I've been and don't think nobody knows what you're going through. We do. Excellent site, wish it had been around 37 years ago. Jon

Well Jon: I'm 56 too and I haven't been hit in 11 years. Oddly they disappeared during the most stressful time of my life. What's going on here? Interesting and I hope your 11 plus years is beginning. Charlie

Jon, My condolences about your wife, and I am very happy for you that you're PF. I am going on 2+ years of PF time myself. I too, had a traumatic time in my life last year, when my Mom passed away. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with why I haven't had a cycle or not, but I'm thinking it just might... Take care, Mel

Jon, Are you saying that your last Cluster was back when you were 42? If I'm reading that right, that's really great to have 14 years behind you! The stress connection has always interested me, because I get hit more when I'm relaxed. I was totally pain free for 6 months after my house burned to the ground a few years ago - but they came back with a vengeance. Good luck! Marc
