Sleep disturbance prior to . . .?

I read with great interest the information about the possible connection between CH and serotonin (sp?), which got me to thinking about how I was having frequent sleep disturbance about 10 years PRIOR to my first CH cycle.  I experienced clinical depression (with LOTS of sleep disturbance) about 4 years prior to my first CH episode.   ???

OK...how's 'bout an quick informal survey with you clusterheads:

Any of you experience any significant sleep disturbance problems PRIOR to having CH?

Just something I'm curious about...

Not real sure Stan.  I started at about age 11.  However I have always been one that had trouble falling asleep (until I found alcohol at a much older age)  Used to take me at least 3 hours to get to sleep.  Still does if I haven't done any illicit substances.

At eleven, I found that the alcohol gave me more problems sleepin' than normal... That's one of the reasons I went on the wagon for about a year.  j/k  Can't remember too much before the beast started visitin'.

I'm not a good sample. For my seizures, I was so full of barbiturates that I was half asleep all the time. Off the things now.

Stan,

Not me - Like Karla, as soon as I hit the pillow I'm out!

Been that way all my life.

When I'm not in the middle of a cycle I sleep better but it is still hard to get there.
It will take a min of 2 hours in bed before I fall asleep, this I have had since childhood. I can even remember asking friends when they slept over how they went to sleep so quickly.
There are even times when I just forget about it and get up for the day/night.

Hm, I need little sleep and if I go to bed too early, I wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep any more for hours. (And I have always had this, can remember being 4-5 and lying in bed awake  for hours till the whole house had quieted down...)

Working from home helps to keep down the panic, since I think: O, I can always take a nap in the daytime (only I never do).

And it sometimes comes in useful, sleeping so little, as when catching a deadline. Or having 5 to 6 2-hourly cluster attacks.
I was a bit ragged around the edges, but I survived.

BTW, don't think everybody NEEDS those 8 hours. That is just a doctors' rule of thumb.

I have sleep apnea caused by a malformed thoat and nasel passages. I had constant fatuige, bone and joint pain. Using a CPAP has helped but I am ending the worse cycle so far so I don't know if they are connected. If you can sleep long periods of time without feeling rested them you probably have a sleep problem(there are many kinds) and may need a sleep study done. I was found I stopped breathing and woke up 20 times an hour which can be deadly.
