OXYGEN & DISEASES
There are numerous diseases that can be not merely cured, but ultimately abolished when we have once discovered how to use oxygen adequately. Liquefied oxygen will no doubt be our sole disinfectant.

ARTHRITIS
We just won't have arthritis in 2000.

A friend of mine who worked for GE told me that when these antique warehouse-sized computers were first developed, someone ran around with a shopping basket-like cart replacing tubes all the time. It was nearly a full time job.......so he said.

No doubt embellished but a good story.

No need for tubes in my steam vacuum cleaner. Gotta keep the oil cup full though.

If the intellectual community, of bygone years, can miss the pot so historically, we may just have hope that the evolutionary process might contribute to a higher species, in the form of Charlie, doing jumping-jacks, and finding a cure! Roll Eyes

Wasn't it the CEO of IBM who stated that the demand for desk top computers would be less than 5 world wide.  I think he stated that back in the 50's.  Old Gates sure proved him wrong.

Yer right. Dad fixed TVs on the side too. Next door neighbor had huge room with thousands of them. Guy fixed everything. Every drug store had a tube tester here and I still have our portable. Have some old Uniteds and RCAs.  I have one here about 8 inches tall that screws into big porcelain base. For early radio sets and a neat thing. These things are worth some bucks now.  My old Hammond organ is full of the things. I haven't used it in 15 years....

In my mind, tubes never left.  The best guitar amplifiers are tube amplifiers.  Too bad they're not as durable as digital amplifiers.  Damn, I wish my tube amplifier was still alive.   Sad Sad
