2 years ago at the beginning of a cluster cycle I broke out in a rash under my arms and around my waist. I itched so bad that the rash turned into sores. This lasted the entire cluster cycle and then went away. It has returned for every cycle since then and then gone away when the cycle disappears. It's back again for this current cycle. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

I'm thankful to say I have not had that situation. Sorry that you are. CH's are bad enough without a rash to go with them.

In the 3 yrs I been here Ive have never heard of that, could it be a sideffect from the meds you take during cycle? Maybe thats why it goes away when CH does. Just a thought, Bro .................jonny

The only meds I was on was imitrex. I'm taking Lithium now and haven't used imitrex in almost 2 weeks and still itching like hell. The neuro seemed to think it sounded like a histamine response of somekind. I know there has been a lot of talk about histamine and clusters. In fact I think it's been called a histamine headache before. When I was in my teens, I used to sneeze alot before a cluster would start which is why I underwent Alergy testing, all of which came back negative.

If you are young enough, I wonder if hormones and clusters combined might be one possibility? It's possible it's a neurological reaction. Who knows what our brain tells our system? We're all different. Ever since I began to reply to your post I've been scratching my back. The power of suggestion. Stick around and let us know how you're doing Charlie

I only got a very bad itchy rash when I was on Lithium, but then that is one of its side effects for some people.
