Just for another topic...

Went and had an EKG today becasue I'm having some ankle swelling, fatigue, and a little shortness of breath. The neuro sent me over to my GP where they did the EKG whch showed a first degree AV block (conduction delay) - nothing too serious but is induced by the verapamil with possible help from the catapres...so they definitely won't let me go higher on the verap...but blood pressure was good so got the go-ahead to use Amerge next time (cardiologist said he had no problem with me using Amerge as long as I was on a calcium channel blocker and BP's were under control, which they are now). Said I'd just have to live with tehse symptoms until cycle over, as - I'm happy to say - it seems my CH's are coming under a bit better control fore the last 3 days (since my 6 hr KIP 9-10 a few days ago). Might still have the bad ones and a few breakthroughs, but this is much better than it was!   Wishing all of you the best and PFDAN's. Jim R

Way to go Jim ! Deal with It! I dont state that sarcastically. I mean you do what every clusterhead needs to do, DEAL WITH IT. 6 hr KIP 9-10 is no piece of cake. That is a lesson in pain endurance. Did you quit work, apply for disability, etc. etc. Nope. You dealt with it. Kudos bud, kudos.

don - thanks. Fortunately, I don't have to work out of my home every day - I have my own little healthcare consulting business, so that makes things MUCH easier. Yup, don't want to go through a 6 hr. KIP 10 stint again anytime soon - pure unadulterated AGONY, but this level CH seems to be getting further and further apart, thank GOD. Hope you're doing well too and as always, wishing you PFDANs. - Jim R

Thanks Everyone! Really appreciate all your good wishes and support. You know, when I get hit with these long CH's - you know, the 4-6 hr. deals, I wonder if I'm getting two or more back to back, with no break between...? I usually don't notice any lull during one, but it's possible I suppose. Yeah, I'm getting really encouraged. None waking me up for a few nights, none during the day, only a few minor shadows. I know enough not to declare victory over the beast yet and I know he can still rear his ugly head BIG TIME, but I am encouraged... My only sides from adding the catapres is the ankle swelling, a little short of breath on exertion, tiredness (boy, I'm even taking 2:00 pm siestas - something I would NEVER have done before! LOL!) and extreme dry mouth, but hey - these are minor for the relief it is affording! Best wishes and PFDANS to you all. Jim R

Sorry to read you are going through a rough spell. Glad that you are starting to get relief. You may be stacking one on top of the other and not noticing the short intermission. It's happened to me in the past. 6 hrs straight -- you are most definately a fighter. Hang in the Jim.

echo - thanks bro but don;t know how much of a fighter I am - I plowed myself full of percocet that day or never would have made it - nothing else was working - O2 didn't even touch it. Thank God they don't happen like that very often! And I might have spoken too soon this morning about not having any for a few days - got a mild one this am and sometimes that forshadows a rough day or night or even several successive days...guess I just have to take it hour by hour and keep my mouth shut until I have a loooong period of sustained relief. Hope you're still doing good. PFDANS to ya - Jim R

Careful... or I will combine this thread with the big "O" thread and really light this place up!   Quote:Too bad your wife isn't the lucky one in the family |
| I'm trying to understand the logic of this statement.... I don't need 6 hours to rack up enough "O's" for my wife to put her ass to sleep for a month! And with a smile to boot! Of course, I'm talkng about 6 consecutive hours... I don't even like playing a round of golf that long! Slammy

Just got done reading the "O". Sure made the conference call I was on a hell of a lot more interesting. I hate it when I forget to put my headset on mute and laugh out loud. Waiting for the men in white to carry me away.
