Hi all... Everyone is so warm here, I guess it will take me time to stop reiterating this...Thanks to all your responses thus far! A bit about my first experience, now treading to my second week...Again its the not knowing, just being as well read as I can on clusters....And the help of so many of you! I wrote in the guest book of my experience, so wont bore, ...*at least I'll try not too* August 30th...red left eye. I have alergies, and of course thought about pink eye as I am a mom of 4 teens [now] but remember that infection all to well back in the day. The next couple days, eye just worse, beginning to droop, water flowing out it seemed. Told my hubby about only left nostril, like I had a one sided cold. Then the first headache..not as bad as days later, but nevertheless bad. It was just all to weird, of course we all think of what could be going on, trying to be calm, rational, as there is proably nothing wrong. Went to ER..it was a weekend, if pink eye then I needed to get the appropriate meds. Sure enough, it was pink eye, felt better, not physically, but hey this is a DR. he knows his stuff. Then more headaches, eye even worse. Couldnt stand it, went to ER, [my usual one] too much wait, so was told to either call DR., or go to another ER. I went back to the ER closer to my house. Again, Pink eye...but you know when your instincts just know something is wrong? I reiterated this to the DR, sort of saying, I think you are wrong. His arrogance was intolerable saying "Dont you know that there are different types of pink eye, and yes the pain can be that bad" Ho, Humph... A couple more days, more headaches...I had a job interview which I went, only making a slight joke about my eye...so the interviewer wouldnt think I was high, or had some major infection. I had the worst headache after that interview in the parking lot. Then another, thats it, went to ER again...[The better one]...I was at the end of this one, had to wait, but got in finally only to have the worst of the worst. It didnt take too long for the DR to suggest Custers, he was sure of it. Four hours to stabalize, only to have another within 20 minutes after being released. I was now panicked, but everything he said made sense. Obviously not pink eye....I feel now like sending that Dr with the right Diagnosis a card, thats how grateful I am. I have been to all the neccessary Drs, my regular Dr however didnt think it was clusters, it was migranes basically because the O2 didnt work. In retrospect, I think back, and believe it did. I think what I was conveying was that it didnt take it away, and during the episode in the hospital, the pain scale went up and down with O2. Been to the neuro...said I was a classic case with signs and symptons. Also he gave me stats which I already had some knowledge from here, but also said about being blonde and blue eye with history of depression, anxiety, and bipolar...that was a huge tip off for him too. I fight all the above, with much success nowadays, am just not one to be sick, and am very analytical as to the "whys". I am a hard one to treat, my Drs have had trouble because I hate taking meds, etc, but know this time, I cant even go there. I have to do everything to the tee...and that much more to figure this all out... Im on prednizone for nine days, and have the imitrex for my next headache...another post for questions... I swear [wink] I tried to keep this short...it may be of some help out for the newer of the newbies...of which I am still one, but offering everything I can, to be a part of this board, and to help as much as I can whenever and wherever. A hug and a smile... Pat Quote: Hope is the thing with feathers That pearchs in the soul And sings the tunes without the words And never stops at all Emily Dickinson |
