And taste good too... Smiley  Did ya read that they found that a lotion containing caffiene may help prevent the formation of skin cancer after exposure to harmful UV rays?

Wonder if it works on interior cancers as well.  Maybe there should be a study of incidence of cancer in cultures that use chilis as a main part of most of their meals..

Sherry, your proposed study would be very, very difficult to evaluate, and why ? Because peoples that use more chillies along with their food generally also have a darker skin - and for that reason alone they usually get less skin cancer.

 I think if you check, the people that use the most hot peppers with their food are Asian, not Dark skinned but Yellow pigmented skin.
     In Viet Nam or Cambodia they feed their babies hot food that would take the skin right off the interior of my mouth, I know because I tried it first hand!  Pappy

Hi Pappy,
 
also the "yellow" pigmented skin only contains melanocites and melanine, the carriers of the "black" colour - more than that of the "white" people and less than that of the "black" ones.
 
(travelling myself for the last 13 years through Asia as bagpacker, every year for ± one  month, and not used to the Asian hot food yet...)

Yes, but I was talking about interior cancers.  In other words what is the incidence of say, stomach cancer or liver cancer or pancreatic etc.  in cultures that eat alot of peppers containing capsaicin.

Anyhow, concerning cancer (and other deseases, too) there are so many uncertainty factors worldwide like race, diets, radioactive pollution, food and water pollution, the quality of the medical care etcetc, and so one beneficial factor (like - may be - capsaicin) may be neutralized by another harmful one in the same region/population, and this way you get a non significant statistic.      I think the biggest link between a food source and fighting Cancers internally has been established to be Soy Products, In the research stage Soy Been products fed to Lab Rats with prostate cancer proved to be around %98 affective in not only slowing the growth of the cancer but completely erradicating it.
     I have been on a Soy product regime for about a year now, I have to increase the percentage of the intake upward to be more effective, but at this point I would us a Soy Oil ennima if I thought it would help fend off the liver cancer.   Pappy

I hear ya, Pappy.  Course that soy oil enema would probably ensure that you have no problems with constipation! LOL
 
I think there may be many foodstuffs that have cancer fighting properties.  The problem is in figuring out which ones.  They say tomatos have cancer fighting properties (I think).  I also heard that alcohol (in moderation) helps to ward off stomach cancer.
 
I really think that a cure could be found for cancer if it weren't for the money needed to research.
 
Until then, we all have to do the best we can and fight it the best way we know how.
