I get really bad headaches after i eat lunch, is this a normal symptom of cluster headaches?  I am in the process of trying to figure out why I am getting them, cuttting out things in my diet etc, but would like some advice from fellow sufferers. My doctor can't come up with anything yet.
any words of advice greatly appreciated

I don't think eating lunch will bring on a cluster headache.
That is, unless it's a liquid lunch. Do you have alcohol with your meal?
Or do you relax and fall asleep after lunch?

You say your doctor hasn't come up with anything yet. Do you mean he hasn't come up with why lunch triggers your headache or do you mean he hasn't come up with a diagnoses yet?

You'll need to tell us more about your pain (when and where does it hurt) and your medicines.

Welcome to the board. Please tell us more.

Hey,
No booze with lunch, no sleeping either.  Basically, I eat and about 15 minutes later I am in agony.  The pain is both sides and in the middle of the head, with occassional shooting pains toward the front.
My doctor hasn't come up with any diagnosis yet, the blood tests showed nothing(unsurprisingly).  I am taking ibuprofen for the pain, but it only subsides about 2 hours later, and not, I would say, as a result of the painkillers.
It just got to the stage where I get irritable and feel sick becasue of the pain and any support is very much appreciated!!!!

Your discription of pain in both sides and middle of the head don't sound like clusterheadaches.

Could it be what you eat. Maybe an allergy to something in the food?

Click the 'cluster quiz' button on the left side of the screen and take the test. Also check under the 'cluster traits' button. Both can help guide you to finding if you do have cluster headaches.

Good luck. Hope you fail the test and find out you have something other than clusters.

I agree with BobG... Take the cluster quiz, and read up about clusters.  I've never heard of a primary headache that's that related to eating.  Even migraine take longer to occur after eating a trigger than that, I believe.  Maybe you should go to a headache center or neurologist to get their opinion.  Good luck!

Cluster headaches are concentrated, indescribable headaches that concentrate behind one eye and the forehead. They may go back and forth but so far as I know the pain is on one side at a time.  They don't "shoot" towards the front, they are at the front.  They often hit us not long after going to bed and several times during the day.  There is no way one can lie down, sleep or sit still with this horror.

Most of us aren't able to connect CH with food allergies. It exists but so far as I know, it's only one possibility.

My hope for you sake is that you do not have this thing.
Let us know how you're doing in any event.

I have noticed when I'm in a cluster phase that some foods will trigger HA, MSG and raw onions to name a few but, it usually takes several hours for this to happen.

When I'm in cycle a meal will trigger an attack almost every time.
