School Sucks

OH JEEZ! I hate school. I hate the looks. Well, actually, I don't hate school, it is the people that I don't like. Got a 6 yesterday. Damn this sucks. I had a PFT the other day. The anti-histamines screw with my asthma. So I am gonna be put on a bunch of other inhalers, steroids, etc. Plus whatever the doc decides to give me for my head. If she ever decides to. I don't think that people believe how bad it hurts. I don't make a big deal out of them anymore, cuz I have had em for a couple years. Very mild then. Then last year they started to get bad and chronic. People stare at me like i'm an alien (I tend to look horrible when I am hit). I just want to scratch their eyeballs out! I hate my chem teacher! She is such a wench. I suck at math, therefore I am having a hard time in that class. And her rude sarcastic attitude doesn't help much. Are there any other teenagers on this site? Anyway, now that I am done complaining, I am going to turn up my tunes and stare at the wall for a while.

ok not the same thing but Night Owl... when I was a senior in high school I was pregnant... lots of looks and talking behind my back... etc...I know your in pain and that is different... I had the sarcasm of the teachers too. Maybe you should print up some of the pages about CH off this site and present them to that sarcastic teacher... and a few friends... maybe a few cute girls...
just hang in there and finish, I did... and Ive never been sorry for my choice to have my son (he is now a very important human being !!!) and finishing school becaus doing that is the most important thing of all... good luck and remember Friday comes quickly... Ree

Night Owl - when I was 16, I played guitar in the only rock band in a 50-mile radius - WAY before rock was socially acceptable; I was a complete outcast among the mohair-sweater-and-penny-loafer crowd. Couldn't BUY a date. Things changed later. You hang in there, darlin'; what idiots think is irrelevant!

Life when you are a teen is bad enough without adding CH to the mix. I started this shit when I was 11. I was only episodic though and was able to basically hide it.
I was a ballet dancer from age 10 to age 25 so I was used to pain LOL. And I learned self discipline from ballet. So I can honestly say that my CH did not really affect my high school years.
However, since I was basically a "good girl" (and at that age, that is the LAST thing you wanted to be known as) and since I spent all of my "off" time in ballet instead of extra-curricular activities, AND cuz I was basically considered a NERD due to the fact that I was fairly smart, my teen years were trying to say the least.
Being a teenager is soooo difficult. I remember. I remember my mother saying "You never smile anymore" "You spend all your time locked in your room" I also remember feeling that I would always feel the same way about things as I did then. I KNEW that I would never feel differently. But, a couple of years later, all of my feelings changed, about almost everything! And that continued, and continued!
But I ALSO remember my mother and many other "grown-ups" telling me that my feelings would change and that I would change and that I was wrong about certain things (that I KNEW I was right about) but I didn't believe them. ....And... that is perfectly normal!!
No one can say to you, "You will feel differently about this in 3 or 4 years" cuz you won't believe them... and that is normal! You have to learn about life on your own. Then, later when you hit your 30's you will say "Oh my God! They were right!"
I never went to college for 2 reasons. 1) My parents didn't have the money to send me and 2) I hated school so much by the time I finished High School I thought I never wanted to get into that situation again.
But...when I hit my 30's I wanted soooo badly to be able to go to college. NOT because I needed it to get a job, but because I wanted to LEARN. I am still on a quest to learn as much as I can about everything that I can.
So, the best advice I can give you is this:
Stick with it no matter how much you hate it. You will be proud of yourself at the end.
If you are worried about the "looks" give them something interesting to look at. Start a new style! (but make sure it's not against the rules!) When I was in High School, I started wearing my fathers old dress shirts over jeans with a belt to cinch in the waist. This was about 5 years before other girls started doing it!
Be yourself, all of yourself, and don't worry what other people think. Most of the people that give you a "look" are probably just wondering what is wrong. TELL THEM! Educate them. Let them know what CH is! Tell your teachers! Print some of the info that is here and take it to school! Start educating some of our future doctors, pharmacists and insurance facilitators about this disease! You have a great opportunity to teach! And, I bet that they will be interested, VERY interested! Most teens are drawn to the unusual and rare. You might find you will have your own little group of supporters!

That's cool. I play the guitar too. Thought I was gonna die today at school. I feel better now. That was a shorter one than usual. I hate chemistry. I suck at math so bad. Anyone want to know something incredibly stupid? I cut my tounge open last night. And ya know what it was from? A FRIGGIN SUNFLOWER SEED! I swear, I get injured in the stupidest ways. It is so funny. After the fact of course.

I don't know how many times those words come out of my moms mouth. Most people leave me alone, but there are a certain few who are rude to anyone and I always seem to be their "Guinea Pig". I am sure things will change. It is just getting there that is the hard part. Thanks.

Hey Night,
I was the biggest clutz when I was a kid. I swear my folks moved a block from the hospital on purpose because I was always doing something dumb. Never on purpose - I just was a clutz!! Even now in my old age I still have my moments - LOL.
Don't sweat it.........life's too short. Just enjoy as much as you can.

Night_Owl, there will always be a certain few who are rude - not just in school, but everywhere you go. Yes, school might suck right now but without it, work will suck so much more if you get stuck in some BS job because you didn't stick it out. Do the best you can in everything that you do and be proud of the person you are and are going to become. AAACK! Now I really sound like a mom!!! Go to your room and listen to some music ;D (does that sound better?)
P.S. Even if you show people information about CH's, they still won't understand, so don't expect them to. Be happy for them that they don't suffer but know that there are groups out here like this that do understand and do care about you.

Ive had chronic CH since I was 14 and I graduated high school. I dont know shit but it can be done, so hang in there.
Anyone busts your chops punch them in the mouth, once everyone in school hears of that noone will bust chops again.
Sorry to be so me but thats what it took for me to make my mom happy by graduating.

Hang in there Night Owl. In a way your lucky I had my first ch when I was 13, back then they didn't take a young kid serous when they complained of headaches.
Just maybe the cure will be found soon and you won't have to suffer as long as some of us. I read your first post and it put tears in my eyes, that a young person was so concered by her families feelings. Where did you get your wisdom at such a young age? Oh, I forgot we are all smart cause our brains are bigger.

That's a good question. I don't really know. I flexed my common sense muscle more than others I guess. I love music. That is my favorite thing in the world. And I think that music opens your eyes to many different things. I don't mean depressing music or anything like that. I listen to old music and new music and I also play my own music. I play the guitar. I also grew up a lot faster because I had a lot more responsibility than others my age. My dad is in the military, so he goes tdy. My mom travels every other week for a week on business. I have a little sister to take care of. I kind of act as a second parent. I am glad that things turned out that way because it has made me a lot more independent and able to solve problems and prevent them.

i hated school i was bullied quite badly till i turned round and kicked my bullies arse and broke her nose, not that i condone violence but after two years i thought what the hell, i am glad those days are firmly behind me, hope things get better for ya soon.
