What's going on?

Fourth day on 900 mgs. lithium and I ended up in the ER again last night after having an undulating KIP8-10 for seven hours! O2 didn't work, stadol didn't work. The pain was uncontrollable. I was nauseated and throwing all day. So finally at 1:00 am this morning, I broke down in tears, crying, screaming, pacing, banging my head against the refrigerator, swearing...I asked my poor tired wife who had to get up at 6:00 am for work to take me to the ER, wehre mercifully I was seen prety quickly (probably becasue of all the moaning and swearing in the waiting room. Anyway, they gave me more O2 (which had not worked at all previously in the night) and a pretty potent shot of demerol and phenergan, which after another 3/4 hr. finally tanked the beast. But shit! - I can't keep going to the ER every night! I've got a call in to my doc to see if I can bump up to 1200 mgs. lithium, but don't even know at this point if lith is working this time around. I feel like I'm on a drug merry-go-round! Hope it's a better day and night today for all of us. PFDANs guys...

Wow ... I feel so lucky. I have never seen the ER because of one of these headaches ... of course I am new to it ... but still, I am really greatful that I found what I needed right away (the oxygen and imitrex shots do wonders for me). I try not to even use them most of the time ... its got to be a banger for me to even do the meds .... I am a firm believer that "no meds", "al natural" is best if you can stand it. I think sometimes they put you on so much stuff your body reacts out of retaliation. Don't know what to tell you other than I will say an extra prayer for you today !!! PFDAN are coming your way I am praying for.

Thanks Nancy - your prayers and good wishes are very much appreciated! The doc has granted me permission to go up to 1200 mgs. lithium immediately, although he did say he thought it was that which is causing my nausea/vomiting. At least if 1200 mgs. can prevent the CH like it did last year, I could bear the N&V! Believe it or not, the shot they gave me at 2:00 am this morning feels like it is just wearing off now and Nancy C confirms it was one heck of a shot they shot my thigh with! And I'm with you - IF you can do it, no meds are best. Unfortunately my cycle has quickly ascended to the level that no meds is no longer an option Hope you and all on the MB are having better luck than me and your wishes for me to be PF are reflected right back at all of you guys... I dread this evening....

Sorry to hear about your rough mornin'. Hopefully the higher dose will help prevent anymore ER trips, and not cause you too much nausea. Good luck!

On 1200 mgs. now and still had a CH in the night, so I'm getting worried. This dosage is making me shaky, wobbly, spacey and I can only hope that it begins to stop these GD CHs beginning tonight, or it might mean another trip to the ER. The CH I'm getting now are KIP 8-10's and when they hit about a 9 or I've had them for a number of hours, I can't control it anymore and crack...

ive had to go to the er more then once for ch and that was before i even knew what i had they give me moriphine and demerol on seperate times
